May 21, 2020 - Detailed CPSD Swim Team Practice Protocols

May 21, 2020 Safety Measures Summary:

Do not come to practice or to the pool if you or anyone in your family has any symptoms of illness, or has been in contact with anyone with symptoms of illness.

Wear masks or face coverings when entering and exiting entrance gate to the Cary Park Swim Club, and whenever unable to maintain appropiate social distancing (at least 6 feet).

Wear masks or facial coverings during drylands workouts.

DO NOT wear masks or facial coverings while in the pool swimming.

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer as necessary, including upon arrival to the pool.

Maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing in and out of the water, whenever possible, away from anyone with whom you do not live.

All pool members, including children ages 12 and up, must fob IN and OUT of the pool facility.

A Parent must be in attendance at the pool when their children are at swim practice. Swimmers ages 13-15 may attend swim team practice ONLY without a parent, and must exit the pool once practice is complete, unless a parent is in attendance.

Swimmers must bring their own individual equipment and should not share with anyone with whom they do not live:

* arrive in your suit
* bring sneakers, socks, shorts, shirt
* bring your own waterbottle
* bring a MASK or FACIAL COVERING for drylands
* bring a towel, goggles, cap, kickboard (if you have one) and pull buoy (if you have one) to practice

If a positive COVID-19 case is made known:
Notification will be given to CPSD BOD, CPSC Pool Committee, and Triangle Aquatics, LLC immediately.
The CPSD BOD will notify the Cary Park Club Board.
The Board will notify the membership that the facility will be closed for twenty-four (24) hours due to a positive test for COVID-19.
Triangle Aquatics LLC will organize a decontamination cleaning service per CDC guidelines.

Cary Park Swim Club Safety Measures:

Capacity and Social Distancing:
The capacity for the pool facility will be 100 members at any given time. This will be determined on a first come first serve basis and members are responsible for self-monitoring. If necessary, we will implement more stringent scheduling measures to limit the number of people at any given time.

Lap pool capacity is 30 people at a given time.
Zero entry pool lap capacity is 17 people at a given time.
Members are responsible for adhering to these capacity limits.

The lifeguards will Tweet @caryparkpool with an update with an approximate number of people at the pool every half hour to help you plan your pool visit. Follow us on Twitter at @caryparkpool.

If the pool exceeds the stated capacity, the lifeguard will blow the whistle to clear the pool for an additional 10-minute adult swim.

The lifeguards are at the pool to monitor safety, not to enforce social distancing. Pool members are responsible for following social distancing and safety guidelines:

  • Stay home if you have COVID-like symptoms, or are concerned you were exposed to someone in the last 14 days with symptoms.
  • Maintain six feet of distance from people you do not live with, both in and out of the water. Failure to do so may result in termination or suspension of membership.
  • Wash your hands frequently, including upon arrival at the pool.
  • Pool furniture has been placed in groups for appropriate social distancing. Pool furniture may not be moved on deck.
  • We advise against wearing face coverings while in the pool for safety reasons.
  • All lost and found items will be discarded at the end of every day.
  • If a pool member develops symptoms after visiting the pool, they must notify us via email to caryparkclub@carypark.org so that appropriate measures can be taken.

Facial Coverings:

Facial coverings are not required, however state and CDC guidelines say that they are recommended if you cannot maintain a distance of 6 feet from people with whom you do not live.

Pool Entry:

Our entry and security system requires all members age 12 and older to fob in and out of the pool. This means all members of the family must bring their fobs and use them. Children under age 16 will enter with a parent or guardian this season.

This will be strongly enforced and members who forget their fobs will have to go back home to obtain them. This is imperative so we have an accurate list of everyone in attendance at the pool at any given time in case we need it for contact tracing.

Lap Lanes:

The lap lanes will be in the lap pool at all times to serve as a visual cue and a reminder for social distancing.

Slide:

The slide is not operable this season and members must refrain from climbing on it or touching it.

Guests:

NO guests are allowed.

Snack Bar:

The snack bar is closed until further notice.

Pool Parties:

There will be no pool parties until further notice.

Children Must Be Accompanied by an Adult:

Children must be 16 or over AND able to practice appropriate social distancing in order to enter the pool without a parent or guardian.
