Job description
The Head Swim coach is responsible for coaching swimmers to be their personal best. The Head Swim Coach will also help guide, mentor, and train assistant coaches in these areas. Our summer swim team season run May through July.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Team leader and swimming subject matter expert
- Ability to demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and ability to function in a multi-task environment
- Long and short-term planning/scheduling for training and competition for all competitive levels
- Participate in club activities and social events
- Direct staff in establishing goals and necessary tools for the successful development of the athletes
- Positively and constructively communicate and motivate children with the ability to consider varied social, emotional and physical attributes
- Manage, observe, and constructively evaluate athlete performance at practices and meets to enhance technique and motivation
- Create a culture of excellence for the whole person development of both staff members and athletes
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Swim Team Committee Representative
- Leads strokes and turns lesson weekly
Qualifications/Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate effectively with athletes of all ages/abilities, families, staff and administrators
- Possess an expertise and knowledge of swimming at all age group levels
- Enthusiasm for continuing coaching education
- Advanced experience coaching various ages and skill levels in a competitive environment
- Knowledge and experience with on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
- Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques
- Excellent observational skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Education and Experience:
- 5 years minimum competitive swimming experience
- 3+ years head/lead club coaching experience
- Experience developing athletes and staff
- Must possess Red Cross lifeguard certification
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $14.50 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
