Want to Join the Granite Bay Gators?

Thank you for your interest in the Granite Bay Gators.  The Granite Bay Gators Swim Team is open to swimmers ages 3-18 who meet the eligibility requirements. There is a Meet the Gators/Gator Info Night on Jan 28th 6:30-7:30 PM at the GBHS Library. Please come and bring your questions there.

New Swimmer Registration – OPENS Feb 1st

Registration must be completed via the Gators website at www.granitebaygators.com.  Click on Gators Registration for more information. 

You will need to create a family account to be able to register your swimmers. Once registered, the status will be set as Pending Approval. An assessment is required for swimmers 8 and under to ensure the swimmer is water safe.

If you have a sibling of a returning swimmer who did not swim with the Gators last year, but wants to participate this year, you may register the sibling(s) at the same time you process your returning swimmer registration. An assessment is required for siblings of returning swimmers to ensure the swimmer is water safe.

2020 Ages 8 & Under New Swimmer Assessment Dates

  • 2/22/2020 9-11 AM
  • 3/4/2020 6-7 PM

Please drop in on the above dates.  Assessments are held at the Granite Bay High School pool. At the assessment you will fill out an information form. Please bring a towel, goggles and your smile! We will have coaches in the water for all assessments. An assessment is required for siblings of returning swimmers to ensure the swimmer is water safe.

What we are looking for:

  • First, we are looking for swimmers who are safe in the water.
  • Swimmers 6 and Under: Swim at least half the length of the pool (12 1/2 yards), unassisted. Able to float on the back, unassisted.  Coaches will note how far the swimmer can swim unassisted.
  • Swimmers 7-8:  We will be assessing knowledge of all strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breast and butterfly), however knowledge of all strokes is not required.
  • Coach-ability - we are looking for swimmers who listen carefully and follow direction.

Process

1. Register onlineAfter completing your registration and completing payment through the website you will be issued a receipt with “Pending Team Approval”.   Final approval will be processed by the Gators Registrar; further emails will only occur if there is a problem with your registration information.

2. Show up at one of the swim assessment dates if you have any 8 and under swimmer. Swimmers aged 9 and above by 6/15/2020 are not required to be assessed.

  • Fill-out the assessment form(s) on the day of the assessment at the pool.
  • Coaches will fill out the assessment form and hand it over to the registrar to inform the decision whether the swimmer will need to be in the Jr. Gator practice schedule.

3. Registrar will approve the registration and the family will receive the login instructions to the site. You will also be informed via e-mail whether the swimmer needs to attend the Jr. Gator practice schedule. If you paid for regular team membership but the swimmer has been assessed to Jr. Gators level, we'll issue a refund.

Suburban Swim League Quiet Period– February 15th – April 22nd

The Suburban Swim League mandates a “quiet period” that begins February 15th and continues through April 22nd.

  Swimmer(s) shall not exceeded twelve (12) hours of in-water, coached activity during the period February 15, 2020 through April 22, 2020 with the exception of participation 1) on his or her high school  or NCAA swim team*; 2) water polo activities; 3) Red-Cross sponsored live-saving courses.

Please note the PAC Spring Swim Clinic conforms to the quiet period guidelines.  If your swimmer is currently participating in lessons or a clinic other than the PAC Swim Clinic, please ensure your swimmer does not receive more than 12 hours of swim instruction during this time period.

Mandatory Parent Meeting

We will hold a mandatory parent meeting on Monday, April 20, 2020 6:30 p.m. at the Granite Bay High School Theatre.  This meeting is very important, especially for new families.  Please make every effort to attend.

Parent Participation

As an independent parent-run organization, your involvement is critical to the success of our program. We require that every family volunteer at every meet where your child participates.  More information about volunteering and how to get involved with the team will be covered during the mandatory parent meeting.
