Co-Head Coach Rebecca Meeker (10 & under)

Rebecca started swimming with the Roseville Sugar Bears from ages 7-12.  When she wanted to take her swimming to the next level she joined California Capital Aquatics and swam at Oakmont. Her love for coaching started while working with the younger swimmers at CCA and became more developed once she began working with the City of Roseville as a swim instructor. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Sonoma State University in 2013. She currently works as a project manager for a software company where she is responsible for working with the development team and the customer, ensuring satisfaction from the start of a project through its completion.

Her coaching resume includes 5 years with Placer Aquatics Club, GBHS and GB Gators swim teams. She has demonstrated the ability to work with all levels of swimmers from U6 to All-Americans, has strong organizational, communication and leadership skills, and has a clear vision for what she will do to improve the Gators.  She has been a Head Assistant, Age Group Coach, and Lessons Manager and has organized and coordinated winter and spring programs. She does a fantastic job of pulling people together toward a common goal.

As the JV Girls coach at GBHS, Rebecca has amassed a record of 60-0 over 5 years and been instrumental in the GBHS Varsity Girls teams success during the same time. Her JV Girls team has 5 consecutive league championships, 2 CIF Section Championships, and 3 CIF Section Runner Ups during her tenure.

Fun Fact: Rebecca is a certified scuba diver.

Co-Head Coach Josh Collison (11 and up)

Josh’s uncommon journey in aquatics started as a high school student at Oakmont when he was “cold called” by the boys' water polo coach looking for anyone and everyone who would join.  As a polo player, he was required to swim and quickly fell in love with the sport.

He swam and played polo all 4 years at Oakmont where he was All-League.  He then went on to swim and play water polo at Sierra College where he was honored as a Team Captain and All American. After 2 years he transferred and continued his collegiate swimming at NCAA D2 California Baptist University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences.

Josh has experience in swim lessons and aquatics management as a pool manager and lessons program manager. His managerial experience and leadership in team building and staff training improved the Granite Bay Gators last year and we are excited to promote him!

Fun Fact: Josh can juggle.

Assistant Coach Alex Shibata

Assistant Coach Matt Plastino

Matt Plastino has been a Gators fan favorite for the last several years! Over the past 7 years, he has worked his way up the ranks from a 14-year-old volunteer to becoming an assistant coach.  He loves kids, swimming, the GB Gators, and we are excited that he is taking on a larger role this season.

Matt joined the Gators in 2011 and swam here until he graduated from GBHS in 2015. He was an influential teammate on many championship teams.  He went on to swim for two years at Sierra College where he was part of two conference championship teams as well as State Championship.

He is currently swimming for UC Davis’ club team, pursuing a degree in psychology and education and teaching swim lessons.

Matt’s goal is to help kids improve their swimming, have fun and guide families to learn that the value of the GB Gators extends far beyond the pool.  He attributes swimming and the GB Gators to promoting positive community values, strong relationships, and individual growth.

Fun Fact: He is most well known for his epic roles in the GB Gators coaches videos.
