Coaching Staff
Sasha Newton Head Coach

This is my third season with RMST, and I’m ready to make this one even better than the last! As head coach, my primary goal is to enable swimmers to work hard to reach their individual potential while instilling the importance of team unity and fun. My approach is two-pronged, focusing on endurance training as well as detailed technique training in each of the four strokes.

I love the sense of community built around swimming and the lessons it continues to teach me, which is why I’m still at it after all these years. I started swimming at a young age, and at age 5 I joined a local summer-league team in my home town of Lafayette. There, I swam for 10 years then continued with high school swim. I swim for my college team, the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. During the academic year, I attend Pomona College in Claremont, CA, where I’m majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Asian Studies.

Besides being a swimmer myself, my cumulative coaching experience spans 7 years, and I’ve coached kids of all ages. I am passionate about teaching the sport and love nothing more than to see swimmers improve in ability and overall confidence. I’m looking forward to a productive and fun-filled season on Rudgear Meadows! GO SEALS!

Rose Clyne Assistant Coach

Hi! My name is Rosie. I have met some of you over the summers as a babysitter for some of the team’s families. I am beyond excited to be joining your team as a coach.

I swam for the Martinez Otters growing up and then went on to swim for my high school, Alhambra. My favorite strokes are Breast and Free.

I look forward to being a part of the team and helping the Seals become the best swimmers they can be. I have high expectations and push for everyone to do their very best. I am patient and know that each swimmer has his or her own individual strengths. Swim team is a family and it is fun to be with your friends everyday, but I expect the team to work hard and commit to the season.

This season is going to be fun and I cannot wait to see you all out there on the pool deck.
