2021 Swim Team Season/Registration Updates

WCSC NEWS

WCSC Families,

Registration for the 2021 swim season is now open!

We are very excited about the upcoming season and the scheduled swim meets and activities.  The meet schedule is posted on the website for all to review.  The social activities that we all know and love have yet to be scheduled with the exception of the camping trip, which will occur on July 4th weekend at Camp Richardson in Lake Tahoe.

Please register your children so that we can have some idea of how many swimmers we can expect for the season.  We will not be asking for payment until we know the length of the season.  The current rates for the full season are posted on the website; if the season does not start on time, the rates will be prorated.

The swim season registration fees cover practices and meets through the conference swim meet on 7/24-7/25.

I know there is some confusion regarding the differences between the between the swim clinic(s) and the swim team season.

Basically, we are holding swim clinics because County/City regulations have limited the amount of swimmers allowed in the pool and pool lanes, and our allotted time in the pool is limited because we share the facility with the city of Walnut Creek and other programs.

Once we are cleared to add swimmers to the pool, we will transition to the “swim season” which basically means we open the program to all swimmers, and they will start practicing in their age groups.  We do not anticipate any changes to the practice schedule times, although some swimmers will have to be moved into their age groups.

Traditionally, swim season practice has started the beginning of April and we are hopeful that we can start 4/6/21.  If not, we will start the swim clinic as scheduled and it will continue until we are given the green light to start the swim season.

We hope that all who have signed up for the clinic will register for the swim team.  If the 2021 swim season is allowed to start after the swim clinic has begun, all swimmers can either transition the clinic cost into their swim season fees or continue swimming through the first week of May (the end of the second swim clinic).

Once we start the swim season, no other clinics will be scheduled.

We understand that this may be a little confusing for all, especially the new families.  To help explain the ins and outs of swim team, we will be holding a zoom meeting on 3/23/21 (this coming Tuesday) @ 6pm to answer any questions that you might have about the season, including meets, jobs, team swimsuits, extra activities, etc.  This meeting will be tailored for new families but anyone is welcome to join.

We look forward to answering any question that you might have.

One more thing, I want to thank everyone for helping to make the clinics run smoothly and safely.  The City is very pleased with our program during these difficult times.  We are very visible at the pool and have not had one complaint.  Keep up the great work!

Looking forward to seeing you all on the pool deck soon,

Chad and Cherie,
