Meets:

Beginning this week, meets will go back to their regular format. There are no longer any cohorts for meets. This means that all ages will be swimming by event and should plan to be there for the entirety of the meet.

Wednesday, June 16th at Indian Valley Swim Club start time and warm-up time will be emailed tomorrow. 404 Marshall Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598

Saturday, June 19th at Home vs. Livorna start time and warm-up time will be emailed by Friday.

Jobs:

Due to the change in meet format, jobs will be modified as follows:

  • Shepherding and awards worker jobs will be for the duration of the meet
  • Timers, runners and snack shack will be for first half and second half of meet corresponding to prior wave 1 & wave 2 sign-ups

Thanks to those of you who have been filling your job requirements!  For those of you looking for more job slots, there are still slots available and new job slots may open as we adjust the meet format.

Please note, we need strong volunteers for meet set-up and take-down to do pop-up tents, tables, chairs, etc.  I have added some additional set-up/take-down jobs to help those hard-working folks that are always left to do the heavy lifting.  It’s an easy sign-up so please help out!

Seeking: One shepherd for Wednesday’s night’s 6/16 IVST meet, and desk workers for All City and upcoming dual meets.  If you are good with computers and think it would be fun to manage results and see how the back end of a meet runs, this is the job for you!  Contact [email protected] or [email protected]

Subs: We still need subs for our sub list.  If you know anyone 16 and older who is available to cover job shifts, please let me know!  Sub jobs pay $50 per shift (arranged and paid directly by the family).  Email [email protected] to add your name and number to the list.

Don’t Forget!  All City Jobs Requirements!!  There are additional job requirements for All City meet, June 26-27 (see below).  Details are still being worked out for jobs and schedule, however all families should plan to work at least two job shifts (up to 4 hours per shift) AND one set-up(Friday night) or take-down(Sunday afternoon) or they need to find subs to cover their requirements.  Due to the structure of the meet, you may be working a shift that is not during the WCSC time slot.  This is a very important and fun meet sponsored by WCSC and we need everyone’s participation to make it happen!

All City job sign-ups will be released on Thursday, June 17 at 7 PM!

All City News:

The 2021 All City Meet returns this year in a modified format, to mitigate COVID-19 exposure. The meet will consist of 3 trials meets made up of 3 or 4 teams, broken out by region of the city. The West side tri-meet will consist of Walnut Creek Swim Club, Larkey Sharks and Dewing Park. The East side tri-meet will consist of Woodlands, Scottsdale, and Rancho San Miguel. The South side quad-meet will consist of Indian Valley, Walnut Heights, Rudgear Estates, and Livorna. Two trials

meets will be run on Saturday, and the third will run Sunday morning. The top

swimmers from each event will qualify for a Finals meet which will be hosted on

Sunday afternoon.

WCSC will be swimming in the Sat AM session in the ‘West Trial’ against Dewing Park and Larkey. Warmups from 7:30-8:45, Meet begins at 8:30am.

All City Finals for swimmers who qualify will be Sunday PM with warm-ups from 1-1:45pm. Meet begins at 2pm

Every family is expected to work two jobs in addition to either set-up (Fri) or take-down (Sun) at the meet or find a sub(s) if you will not be attending. You will likely be working during one of the sessions that WCSC is not swimming in. Jobs will be released closer to the meet.

There will not be a clerk of the course this year so the meet will operate similarly to the dual meets with each team responsible to get swimmers to the blocks on time. We will have shepherds for 8 & under. Please mark your swimmer's hand with their name, stroke, heat, & lane.

SHOUT OUTS! A very fun part of our program are the shoutouts. Since our kids can’t hear us underwater we like to put it in writing. For $25 we’ll put your kid(s) photo and a message from you somewhere in our program. Use the google form https://forms.gle/ij9G3xJpThjJDv4b9 to begin the process.

Do you (or a friend) have a business that would like to have an ad in our program that goes out to 1,300 swimmers and their families? Contact [email protected]
