Walnut Creek Swim Club Weekly Updates

Week of: 6/28

Snapshot of the Week

  • Wednesday, 6/30 Meet at LMYA Dolphins

  • No meet on Saturday, July 3rd

  • No practice Monday, July 5th

Coaches Update: Amazing job by both swimmers and parents this weekend! It takes a team to run an event like that and I’m so glad we have the best one out there.

We will only be taking 11 and ups to Woodlands invitational this year. Invitationals are smaller meets with specific time requirements around entries. Woodlands Invitational is a very competitive meet with a small amount of entries allowed for each event. Coaches will let their swimmers know by Wednesday if they are invited to attend the invitational on 7/11.

If you are looking for private lessons, Coaches Lainey, Raina, and Abby are all offering private 15 minute lessons at Larkey at 10 and 10:15am. Talk to them on the pool deck if you are interested in getting your swimmer some one on one help with their strokes, dives or starts!

Thanks to all of you who worked your volunteer jobs this weekend to help make our All City meet a great success!  Many of you went above and beyond when asked to do more or different jobs than what you signed up for and it is much appreciated!

There are 4 meets remaining to complete your dual meet job requirements.  If there are no job sign-ups left and you have not fulfilled your requirements, please contact me!

Lastly, we will have some job requirements for the all-Conference meet on July 24-25.  We will keep you posted as we know more details.  Thank you!

All City News:  All City Meet Recap:  Thank you to the entire WCSC family for helping pull off this meet.  The Budkes and the Gilmores would like to say thank you to each of you in person, but if we don't get the chance to, I want you to know that without the help of people who gave their time and effort selflessly, it would not have happened.  A big thanks to Molly McCabe, who maintained a great attitude, and stayed cool while constantly taking on new challenges with managing the "Desk" and our computer applications.  Most people don't know, but what she managed required much time ahead of the meet, and during the meet she working nearly 'round the clock getting the software and hardware to cooperate with our new meet format. From the snack bar, to our meet operations, Officials, our treasury department!, all the Marshalls, the Shephard Coordinators, Announcer Scott, our coaches,  and all of those who stepped up to help clerk the finals seedings, thank you!

I didn't get to see that many swims, and didn't get to hang out on the pool deck with many swimmers, but it is so much fun to see their successes at this meet. . At the end of the meet, we're always proud of our team and what we were able to do.  Coaches, keep up the hard work, these kids are getting better everyday!  Thanks again WCSC Family.
