Newsletter 7/9/23

Hi Stingrays!
Congratulations on our first home win and home meet in many years! It was so much fun, and we couldn’t get it done without teamwork and our amazing parent volunteers. We have a lot going on over the next few weeks, so please pay close attention to the reminders below and future emails.
WAUGH CHAPEL HOME MEET (this Saturday, July 15th)
Reminders:
- Sign up and declare by Tuesday at 8pm.
- Volunteer sign ups are open, and we will be sending around a concession donation sign-up soon.
- Coaches will select the events and send out more information Thursday or Friday.
- Please arrive by 7:45am to check in with a coach; warm-ups will begin at 8am.
- The parking lot is RESERVED for the visiting team, so please park on the street.
- See the attached map for where to set up tents. Waugh Chapel is a bigger team than Padonia and we strongly encourage families to continue to share tents this year to help everyone fit in more comfortably.
- We will begin setting up for the meet Friday evening at 6:45pm until we finish and again at 7:15am on Saturday morning. Service hours are available for all kids who are rising sixth graders and above who help – we would appreciate any help we can get from team parents and swimmers.

Roland Run (July 22nd, our last home meet)
We will send more information about this meet next weekend but wanted to include it in this timeline.
Junior Championships (July 24th, Westminster Riding Club)
This is a fun meet open to all swimmers who have not qualified for any individual events at Straehle. Please note, swimmers who have been on a qualified relay but have not qualified for individual events are eligible to participate in this meet. Warmups will be at 3pm and the meet starts at 4pm.
We will let you know when sign-ups for this event are up. Pay by cash or check by the end of CCI on July 19th to a board member or we can charge your account for your swimmer’s entry fee + $1 transaction fee. Each event is $5; swimmers 8 & under are limited to 3 events and swimmers 9 & over are eligible for up to 4 events.
T-shirts can be ordered here. Orders are due by Wednesday, July 12th by 7:15. Shirts are $20 each if paid by cash or check. We can charge your account for your total + $1 if you prefer.
Families who attend any optional meet are expected to complete one more volunteer point at one of the optional meets.
Straehle (July 26th, Padonia Park Club)
Sign-ups are live for Straehle and are due by the end of the CCI meet on July 19th. We will accept registration for those swimmers who qualify at our 7/22 meet, with those being due by the end of that meet. Warmups are at 7:15am, the meet starts at 9am, and relays are slated to start at noon. The address is 12006 Jenifer Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030.
This optional meet is open to swimmers that have made the Straehle qualifying times (found here). While this includes relays, when we create our relay teams for Straehle and Divisional meets, we base our selections off two main things: the top four times in the age group and whether they were on a qualifying relay. Essentially, swimmers must have been on a relay that qualified for the meet, or they are not eligible to swim at the Straehle meet. However, just being on a qualifying relay does not necessarily guarantee that your swimmer will be swimming at the Straehle meet. We will keep an updated list of all qualifiers as we go through the season.
All families who have swimmer(s) participating in Straehle are expected to volunteer at that meet.
Divisional Championships (July 29th, Rollingwood)
Sign-ups are live for Divisionals – please commit your swimmer if they are available, even if you don’t think they have top times. Coaches will make the final line-up and pick the top 3 available swimmers for each event. Warm-ups will be at 8am and the meet will start at 9am.
Families who attend this optional meet are expected to volunteer outside of their regular season volunteer requirements.
End of Year Banquet (July 29th, Westminster City Pool)
We will be having our end of the year banquet back at our home pool this year from 5:30-8pm. More information will be coming soon, but you can RSVP here to help get us started.
As always, if you have any questions about this massive amount of information we just threw out, please email us at [email protected] or reach out to any of us in person!
