Head Coach Jim Mercurio

Jim Mercurio is the head coach of the Devon Crest Swim team. He's in his 14th year in this position. Jim just completed his 15th season coaching at LPAC (Lower Paxton Aquatic Club). He started coaching LPAC while he was still a senior at Bishop McDevitt High School.

Like some of our own kids on the team, Jim started swimming when he in preschool. He continued to swim all through high school. Jim is a history teacher at his alma mater Bishop McDevitt High School

Coach Jim has had a tremendous impact on the team with our swimmers showing consistent and rapid improvement in their skill level and times. He is the consummate professional who approaches his duties in a serious and organized fashion. He has a reputation for maximizing each swimmers' skill level in a fun, challenging and exciting program. We are so lucky to have Coach Jim at Devon Crest!

Coach Alyssa Massaro

I swam for Devon Crest for 13 years and I will be entering my 11th year as a coach. I am excited and honored to work alongside Jim this summer in place of Coach Bree. I certainly have big flip flops to fill!

I swam for the Bishop McDevitt swim team throughout high school and LPAC for a few years. It was through my experience as a Junior Coach for Devon Crest that I realized I wanted to work with children and become a teacher. I am now studying Elementary Education at Penn State and plan to graduate in the Spring of 2018.

I spend most of my summer at Devon Manor and wouldn't want it any other way. I will be the Manager of the pool this summer and I am excited to work more closely with the pool board and members.

The best part about Devon Crest for me is how inclusive we are. I love meeting new swimmers and working with them to help them improve. Watching a new swimmer climb out of the pool after swimming their best time and seeing the look on their face is very rewarding. I am looking forward to many more moments like that this upcoming season!

Assistant Coach Daniel Logan

I have been a Devon Crest Gator for the past 8 summer seasons. I began my competitive swimming career with Devon in the summer of 2010 and have loved every minute of being on the team! I have been a junior coach for DCST for the past 3 seasons and have coached for my club team's mini team for the past 3 seasons. I am very excited about taking on a new role this coming season. I work as a lifeguard at Devon Manor as well, so my summer life revolves around water, which I could not be happier about!

I swim competitively year round and have also been a part of the Varisty swim team for Susquehanna Township High School from 2013-2017. I was very blessed to have qualified for States 3 out of my 4 years while on the High School team and was named as one of the Captains for the 2016-2017 season.

I attend Messiah College and study Accounting and Business Management and am excited to say I swim at the collegiate level as part of Messiah's Men Swim Team. Although I am no longer a swimmer for Devon Crest, I will never forget the experiences I have had and the relationships I have made.

I am extremely excited to help coach all of the Gators this summer! I love to watch the kids improve over the course of 3 months as they grow into amazing young swimmers. Devon Crest is my home and I will always continue to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.

I  am originally from Coal Township, PA and have degrees in Exercise Physiology and Health Education. I was the Education Director at Shamokin Area Community Hospital for ten years before moving to Harrisburg.

I am part of the Friendship Center Learn to Swim Staff for the past eight years and have coached competitive swimming at all levels for the past three decades including Age Group and High School Swimming and Diving Teams. In the winter season I coach with Lower Paxton Aquatic Club and work with all levels. A few of my certifications are: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor, Water Safety Instructor and CPR /First Aid Instructor.  I am also certified through Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Swimming and Diving  as well as Mid Penn Swim League (MPSL) as Official and Referee. I hold credentials with USA Swimming and the American Swimming Coaches Association. My speciality is to bring out the best in every swimmer’s personal ability by working with each individuals’ talent, technique, and drive.

I enjoy spending time with my family, attending sporting events, and training and competing with my horses in my free time. My husband Tony, my son Giovanni, and daughter Harper have been Gators for the past five years and love every minute of it. What I love most are the friendships we have made, atmosphere of the swim meets, and watching the improvements our swimmers makes throughout the season. I am looking forward to many swim-tastic times in The Swamp! Chomp! Chomp!

Assistant Coach Logan Kraus

I am a native of Harrisburg and began my swimming career with the Latshmere Swim Team. I quickly fell in love with the sport and joined the Collegiate Aquatics Swim Team for the winter season. I stayed with these two teams throughout high school and helped to coach the younger swimmers. I enjoyed this so much I took a job teaching with the learn to swim program at the Friendship Center my junior year of high school. I am now entering my 9th year at the Friendship Center and I recently became the private swim lesson coordinator. After swimming for four years at Central Dauphin High School, I realized I was not ready to give up my swimming career. I joined the swim team at King's College, and I swam for three years before an injury permanently ended my swimming career. I remained on the team and helped to coach my fellow swimmers until the season ended. I recently coached with LPAC and I’m also an ASCA and USA Swimming member coach. Medicine is my other passion and I will begin a new career as an ICU nurse in the coming months. This will be my second year coaching with Devon and I cannot wait until the season starts!
