Weekly News: IASAS week, plus Splash 2023 coming soon

Coach Corry Day

Hello to all Panther Swimmers,

IASAS Swim Championship week is finally here, we have waited 3 long years to have our athletes compete at this amazing event again. Our boys’ and girls’ teams are ready to do their best and make ISB proud. If you see any of the swimmers in the hall or around the pool, giving them a shout out and wish them luck.

Registration is also closed now and we have 310 swimmers registered! What a great big family we have built.

ISB Splash Invitational 2023

As I am sure you have heard, we are hosting our annual International Invitational Swim Meet on March 4th and 5th. We have 13 teams traveling from other countries including Korea, Vietnam, Singapore and Cambodia. We also have the 4 top BMAC schools competing on this weekend. This is a must enter for our swimmers that want to be competitive swimmers. We should have 100 swimmers at this meet. So please sign up today!

Important Notes:

Last week of swimming for Season 1 and 2. Season 3 starts next Monday, Feb 6th:

Registration has come and gone, so if you did not register for the last half of the year this will be your last week and also your last communication from the Panther Swim Team. Only registered swimmers can swim after this Friday. As I said in the opening, we have 310 swimmers registered, this is the most we have ever had on the team…so yeah and thanks for your support.

Good news…bad news! London is canceled but Vietnam is on the same date: May 13&14

International School of Ho Chi Minh City is hosting their annual invitational on the same weekend as our planned London trip (May 13/14). We will leave Friday afternoon and come back on Sunday night. Cost will very low compared to London and we already have 17 swimmers committed. I would love to see 30 swimmers; it would make us very competitive at this meet.

Why participate in a travel meet? Is it really worth it?

In short, the answer is absolutely YES! Nothing comes close to making swimmers feel like being part of a team like traveling on buses and planes, staying in hotels and eating meals together.

Many (many, many) decades later, I still remember every trip I ever went on with my team growing up. Swimming has been a huge part of my life and it was these trips with my coaches and my team mates that made it my lifelong sport.

Give it a shot and you will see exactly what I mean!
