Niskayuna Rowing Medals at National Championships in

Dillon Lake, Ohio


May 28, 2019 – NISKAYUNA, NY - Niskayuna Rowing medals at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (SRAA) Regatta which was held Memorial Day Weekend at Dillon Lake, Ohio. Seven boats from Niskayuna Rowing qualified to compete against 156 schools from all over the country. After a steamy day of heats, three Niskayuna Rowing boats qualified for finals, walking away with a Gold, 4th and 5th place. 

1st place - Girls Jr quad-Competed against 10 nationally ranked boats and took the GOLD. Rowers included: Madeleine Castle, Heather Schmidt, Leslie Abad-Neagu, Jackie Lasek

“After winning gold in States two weeks ago, I am so excited to win gold at Nationals,” said Junior Jackie Lasek. “I just can’t stop smiling. We are all on cloud nine.”

4th - Girls Freshman Quad Jordan Zenner, Stella Mirković, Rebecca Schechter, Samantha Castle. They competed against 11 nationally ranked boats. Niskayuna made to the final and finished fourth. 

5th place - Boys Freshman eight- There were total 19 boats competing in the boy’s freshman 8+. They advanced through heats and semi-finals to qualify for the final and finished #5.

Boys Junior Lightweight Quad -Ben O’Connell, Ethan Conrad, Aman Singh, Dan Klepeis

Niskayuna Rowing started from humble beginnings in 1987 and now has more than 100 strong student athletes who are accomplished on all levels.  As rowing is a true volunteer driven sport, we can only succeed with donations of time, talent and money.  We are a team that constantly gives back to the community with events that support local communities and parks.  Over the past three years, volunteer time and talent has made improvements to Aqueduct Park and contributed to community events. We also partner with other schools and organizations such as LaSalle School and the ARC to teach teambuilding and leadership development skills.  For more information on Niskayuna Rowing, please visit:
