Niskayuna Medals at Head of the Charles

Oct 25, 2021- Boston, MA - For the first time in 30 years of school history, Niskayuna Rowing Medals at Head of the Charles Regatta. More than 600 clubs and 9,702 athletes from over 24 countries come to The Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR.org) - one of the largest Regattas in the World. The race is 4,800 meters long filled with sharp turns and bridges.  

Niskayuna women’s coxed quad came in 5th out of 52 boats, medaling for the first time in nearly 30 years of Niskayuna Rowing history.

“We are extremely proud of all of our athletes. The sculling (two oars per athlete) training that we practiced during Covid has served us well. We have had good results all Fall and are thrilled to see our kids reach the podium at this prestigious event,” expressed Niskayuna Rowing Head Coach Stacey Apfelbaum.

Three Niskayuna Boats Rowed at HOCR:  

Women’s Youth 4x (coxed quad)- 5th out of 52 boats in their event with a time of 19:00.791. 

Rebecca Schechter, Stella Mirković, Samantha Rowden, Jordan Zenner, and Heather Schmidt. 

  • First Place Women’s Quad time: Redwood Scullers 18:25.713 
  • Fifth Place Niskayuna Women’s Quad time: 19:00.791

Men’s Youth 4x (coxed quad) - 10th place out of 47 boats with a time 17.24.313 -  

Daniel Shahata, Cooper Anderson, Adam Conrad, Danny Kelly, and Ryan Behar 

Men’s youth singles - 33rd out of 44 boats with a time of 21.16.764 -
