FAQS

DO I HAVE TO BE AN EXPERIENCED ROWER TO JOIN THE TEAM?

PHRA accepts all levels of rowers and has learn to row camps in the summer. Come to try a session out and see how you like it! Contact Head Coach Mike Smith at headcoach@planthighrowing.com and test it out!

WHEN DO WE PRACTICE?

We practice weekdays after school and Saturday mornings. Please see the Team Schedule pages for the most up to date details regarding practice schedules.

IS THE SEASON YEAR ROUND?

PHRA facilitates Fall and Spring crew, as well as summer camp rowing. We participate in several regattas throughout the year.

IS THERE A HEIGHT AND WEIGHT LIMIT?

No- Rowers come in all shapes and sizes! There is a place for everyone. However, you will need to be capable of lifting at least 40lbs and have a desire to compete at a top level in a very physically demanding sport.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO PRACTICE?

Spandex shorts (similar to biking shorts) should be worn to water practices along with a comfortable t-shirt or tank top that doesn’t impede arm movement. Always bring socks for water practices, and running shoes in case the weather turns bad, and we jog during practice. For land practices and workouts, general workout attire is to be worn, along with running or tennis shoes. Don't forget the sunblock and bug spray.
