High School Swim Lettering Requirements and Directions

 

The Stuttgart Piranhas provides High School age swimmers the opportunity to earn a JV or Varsity letter in swimming during either the Fall or Winter sports season. High School letters will be awarded based upon the requirements set forth by Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) - Europe through the Memorandum of Understanding, the Stuttgart High School Athletic Director, European Forces Swim League (EFSL), and ultimately at the discretion of the Piranhas Head Coach. 

Piranhas Swim Team will provide:

  • Opportunity to letter within DODDS-E.
  • Practice time and frequency according to the group assigned. 
  • Leadership opportunities as Piranhas Team Captains.  Applications are available on the Piranhas Website.

 

High School Lettering:

  • Swimmers may letter in the Fall or Winter sports season.
  • Fall season runs from 27 August - 10 November 2019*
  • Winter season runs from 8 November 2019* - 1 March 2020
  • * Meets taking place from 8-10 November count for both Fall or Winter season
  • High School Swimmers are expected to maintain their commitment to the Piranhas through the end of the Piranhas competitive season regardless of their lettering status.
  • Swimmers may miss one practice out of the maximum practices offered each week; unless excused due to travel, illness, etc.
  • Swim practice attendance will be kept and averaged during their lettering season.
  • Meet attendance must be a minimum of 4 swim meets in the lettering season.  

 

 

Varsity Lettering Requirements

  • Meet the DODDS-E academic and athletic eligibility standards and school regulations
  • Adhere to the Team Code of Conduct
  • Be enrolled in grade 9-12 on the first day of the season
  • Compete in a minimum of 4 meets during declared lettering season
  • Satisfy either:
    • Qualify for Individual Champs and earn one point from each column in the Lettering Point Table or 
    • Earn 60 points in any combination from the Lettering Points Table with at least one point from each column by the end of their lettering season.

Junior Varsity Letters (not available to High School Seniors)

  • Meet the DODDS-E academic and athletic eligibility standards and school regulations.
  • Adhere to the Team Code of Conduct
  • Be enrolled in grades 9-11 on the first day of the season.
  • Compete in a minimum of 4 meets per lettering season.
  • Earn 40 points in any combination of the Lettering points table

Captain Information

* Captain positions are open to Juniors and Seniors only. Applications for fall season are now being accepted.  All completed applications (Full Season, Fall, and Winter) are due to the Coaching Team by August 30, 2019.

Required Forms and Documents

  • Stuttgart High School Students
  • Home School Students
  • International School Students and German School Students
    • There is not a formal lettering agreement for students from these schools. A certificate of participation is available at the conclusion of the season.
