Thunder Water Polo leaves for the Colorado Tournament on this upcoming Friday, November 11th.  Above is the Tournament Schedule for this weekend's Colorado Tournament at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, the Thunder team specific rosters, the Thunder Itinerary, and the Thunder Travel Breakdown (see highlighted green note below).  Please double check the Thunder Travel Breakdown and email [email protected] if there are any issues.  Thunder Water Polo has entered five teams this weekend.  There are some athletes on multiple teams (please double check rosters).   The coaches will be sure to tell the athletes EXACTLY where they need to be and when they need to be there throughout the weekend.  The games will be good competition over the Friday Afternoon/Saturday/Sunday tournament. There will be lots of playing time for everyone!!!

Below is the basic information for those athletes/parents on the team flight on Friday, when/where to meet on Friday morning at the airport, the pool location, important contact information, ground transportation info, etc.  Additionally, all athletes need to bring a PHOTO ID with them on the trip to Colorado (see highlighted yellow note below).  For those meeting us in Colorado, please meet us at the team hotel between 1:30-3:30 pm or at the pool at 4:00 pm (see itinerary).  A FINAL UPDATE email will be sent on Wednesday/Thursday to everyone with any last minute details.  The success of the team trip is dependent on all the coaches, athletes, and parents working together on the trip.  This will be a busy weekend for everyone, but the trip will truly be a great experience for all involved.  Below are all previous update emails.  Please call 713-705-0945 if you have any questions.  See you at the airport or at the hotel/pool on Friday.

Thunder Travel Breakdown:  I had to make an educated guess on some people’s travel plans.  Please double check the Thunder Travel Breakdown and email joelinehan@earthlink.net if there are any issues.  For example…if you are flying on the coaches flight but it says “meet at hotel/pool” or vice versa, please email back ASAP as we want to have the most accurate details for travel on Friday and Sunday.

Twitter for Colorado Tournament:  The Thunder teams are off to the Colorado Tournament this Friday, November 11th.  Thunder Water Polo will have a Twitter account for parents, family and friends to follow along with the teams in Annapolis.  The team coaches will be sending out score and team updates throughout the event (simple and easy, you will not receive unnecessary texts).  Not on Twitter?  No problem.  Below are the directions for people to sign-up below (either through your cell phone or on the computer).  Everyone can either follow online at www.twitter.com/ThunderPolo or get texts through their cell phones (to view online, you do NOT need to register).

Spending Money:  Athletes need to bring plenty of money for meals, souvenirs, etc.  The teams will eat the free breakfast at the hotel on Saturday/Sunday but that still leaves lunch/dinner on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (at least six meals to pay for).  We will not be doing anything too expensive but athletes should have money for going to movies, site seeing, etc.  The purpose of this trip is to play water polo, watch water polo, learn, improve, and have a great life experience.  As mentioned in previous emails, we will NOT be sitting at the hotel.  We will be playing water polo throughout the weekend staying busy and having fun!!!

Photo ID’s/USA Water Polo Membership Card:  All athletes need to bring their photo ID's on the trip.  First, the athletes will need this to check in for their flights at the airport/security, but they will also need a photo ID at the tournament as the officials will be doing ID Checks prior to each game.  If you do not have a government issued ID and/or Passport, please being a school ID or at the very least your USA Water Polo ID with the photo (you can download a photo with your USAWP membership).  The coaches will have copies of everyone’s USA Water Polo Photo ID, but please be sure to bring your as back up.
