Athletes from the Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club traveled to Cortland, NY this past weekend to compete in the USATF Region 2 Junior Olympic Championships. The meet was held at SUNY Cortland and hosted athletes from the New Jersey, Niagara, Three Rivers and Mid-Atlantic Associations. Twenty-six athletes from the Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club were among more than 700 athletes that competed at the State Junior Olympics on June 25-26 in Jersey City. One athlete set a meet record, three set club records and eight athletes brought home state championships. Eighteen Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club athletes joined nearly 500 athletes at the USATF New Jersey Junior Olympic Cross Country Meet on Nov. 7 at Central Park in Morris Plains.
