Lake Audubon Managers

Dear Barracuda Family,

As I am sure you have heard by now, our summer swim season has been cancelled.  We are so disappointed, but understand there was no other option.

Sometimes when you can’t have something, it makes you want it even more and that will certainly be the case with summer swim season.  Those early mornings, those nagging volunteer commitments, those DQs –  all seem trivial now.  We look back on past summers and remember the smiles, the cheers, the friendships, the sense of achievement and the pride we have all felt.  We will miss seeing our smiling coaches each morning setting up the pool, writing practice plans, giving our kids piggy back rides.  We will miss our Saturday meets – the early morning energy, the team dressed as superheroes or movie characters, the sea of purple, the smell of turkey bacon, the sound of the horn starting each race.

Summer swim team is much different than other sports. It’s a sport where the whole family can participate – the whole family is part of the team.  When we refer to our Barracuda family, we truly mean that.  Our goal is to keep our Barracuda family connected over the summer.  We also hope to continue to be able to use our website and our Lake Audubon email distribution through Team Unify.  We hope to have some social events when it is safe to gather again.  Please stay connected on social media through Facebook and Instagram so that we can make this happen.

Our Barracuda family has a long history of creating amazing memories together and we don’t intend to let that stop.  We can’t wait to see you again, cram our kids into a swim lane, slather sunscreen on each other, share a giant donut with sprinkles and dance the Cotton-Eyed Joe.  But until then, we will be in touch virtually and hope you will do the same.

Rosemary, Lisa and Maggie
