Swim Team

Mini-Dragonflies "Mini's" - The Mini-Dragonfly program is a hybrid of swim lessons and swim team.  This is for the swimmer who has progressed through the lesson program levels, or who comes to the team with the ability to swim, but needs to work on strength and confidence.  This program is currently offered in the summer sessions only.  One or more instructors are in the water with the Mini-Dragonflies to help build their confidence.

Dragonflies (Beginner) - The Dragonflies will work on learning all four competitive strokes.  The focus is on learning how to listen to a coach, working within a group setting, and practicing swim drills to help build the muscle memory needed to properly perform the four strokes.  (freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly)

Red Group (Intermediate I) - Red swimmers know the strokes, but need drills and instruction to become proficient.  The 1 hour practice helps them build the endurance needed to hold good form throughout races.  A Red swimmer learns how to read the lap clock and use it in workouts, and becomes proficient with the "swim lingo"  At this stage, the successful swimmer has the focus needed to complete workout sets without continued reminders.

Black Group (Intermediate II)  - Black swimmers are proficient in all four strokes.  Instruction and drills are focused on fine tuning strokes rather than learning them.  This program level is a balance between building endurance and skill instruction.  Minimum age of 9 years and must be proficient with swim lingo and clock reading.  Must be able to work independently, and is working for competitive success.

Juniors (Intermediate III) - Juniors are experienced age group swimmers.  The focus of this level is on endurance, speed and race training.  Must have the fitness, maturity and experience to endure 2 hour practices with long sets.

Seniors (Advanced)  - Experienced senior level elite swimmers.  Focused on endurance and race training.
