ELITE Otters Swim Team (EOST) is lead by Joshua Otteson and Laura Otteson. Together they have over 35 years of combined experience working with children as teachers for Palm Springs Unified School District.  Laura received her Master's Degree in Education (with administrative emphasis) from Chapman University.  Joshua received his Master's Degree in Education from California State San Bernardino.  Joshua also has his Administrative Credential.

The Ottesons have been married for 15 years and have 4 children.  They have 3 children that compete for Elite Otters Swim Team.  Their 4th child is incredibly special, and will be swimming soon for EOST in the Amazing Otters Program.  Both coaches are passionate and dedicated to building champions in life and in the pool.

Over the years the Otteson Family participated on other swim teams in the Coachella Valley.  However, while participating with each team, something was missing.  Joshua and Laura held firm in their belief that athletes can train with a focus on technique, racing skills and building endurance while also having fun.  Winning is fun!  Furthermore, they believe that athletes should at all times exhibit "Above the Line Character Traits."  Above the Line Character traits include: integrity, sportsmanship, honesty, kindness, positive role models and respect for authority. This lead to the development of ELITE Otters Swim Team.

EOST coaches love seeing swimmers achieve personal best times in their races.  However, the coach's feel that it's just as important to be an athlete of character, integrity and sportsmanship.  This is why EOST is considered SoCal's ELITE Swim Team.  They are offering a swim program that focuses on training technique, racing skils and building endurance, while also expecting their athletes to maintain integrity and character at all times.

Josh and Laura both share the same vision for preparing swimmers to compete at ELITE Levels.  Their knowledge of swimming technique and racing skills combined with their positive energy and behavior management skills make them a dynamic duo as swim team coaches.
