5 SMRT Swimmers led their High School teams during The 2014 SCISA High School State Championships today @ The Augusta Aquatic Center in Augusta Ga. First Baptist men were lead by Ethan Madden & Burke Arredondo winning the Mens title. Ethan finished 2nd in both the 50 Free (22.76) & 100 Back (59.94). On June 21-22, SMRT hosted its annual Long Course Invitational at MLK, where 46 sunscreen-covered Marlins competed. Four of them—Matt Agostinelli, Kaitlyn Aquino, Eliza Ford, and Georgia Milligan—finished two days of competition with all best times. 13-year-old Agostinelli, who just last weekend earned the 13-14 boys Open Water State Champion title, began his weekend by dropping more than three seconds in the 100 free and moving up three spots to finish in fourth with a 1:03.33. The trio of SMRT swimmers that traveled to Lake Hartwell in Clemson for the Open Water State Championships on June 14th packed a powerful punch, and one of them, 13-year-old Matt Agostinelli, returned a state champion. Trinity Prep Aquatics in Winter Park, FL, hosted the 2014 Orlando Open the weekend of June 6-8. Five Marlins (and Marvin the Marlin) made the trip to sunny Florida and all five got multiple best times. After spending the day Friday seeing such sights as the local beaches, SeaWorld, and the world’s largest McDonald’s, the Marlins arrived at the pool Saturday ready to compete. The YSSC Cukes hosted the Fifth Annual Summer Splash the weekend of May 30-June 1 at the Middle Tyger YMCA in Duncan, SC. Twelve SMRT swimmers competed and earned a total of 47 best times. 14-year-old Tyler Barrett started off the meet Saturday morning with a 1.46-second drop in the 200 free and followed it up with a .74-second drop in the 100 breast and a .41-second drop in the 400 IM, finishing 15th with a 6:03.94. The kids who just got back from Spartanburg this past weekend performed very well. Our two girls who swam the distance events Friday night displayed an excellent sense of pace and both had huge drops/a new state cut for a first time swim. The rest of the meet the kids achieved mostly best times and our strokes are looking better. We have been concentrating a great deal on drills and skills in practice over the past couple weeks and the kids are starting to look prettier in the water. Just...
