Mohamed Walid Sammoud Head Coach

Coach Walid is a swim coach, personal trainer and a physical education teacher. He grew up in Tunisia, and was part of the National Swim and Water Polo Team. He spent most of his life as a high level athlete before transitioning to a coach. 

Coach Walid started his coaching career in 2008 and has experience coaching in schools and clubs in different countries including Tunisia, Switzerland, Zambia and the United States. Before arriving to the U.S., he worked alongside with gold medalist Olympian coaches and contribuated in helping his team to break a couple of national records and winning the Team of the Year award. Coach Walid helped a few swimmers achieve great results before getting recruited by Division 1 colleges in the U.S. with a full scholorship. 

Coach Walid was part of Team Santa Monica (TSM) coaching staff for about 4 seasons where he learned a lot and was able to take bigger roles. In TSM, coach Walid had the pleasure to work with all ages and all levels starting from beginners all the way to national qualifying swimmers and he contributed in a top 100 Age Group teams award: 41 Nationwide and 7th in California, out of thousands of other programs. He’s passion with swimming and he enjoys spending his time working with children, to help them improve and develop their skills.

Coach Walid is a member of USA Swimming and American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA). His dream of attending the Olympics is closer than ever after creating his own swimming program. He believes that anything can be possible as long as the hard work is consistent.

Alexei Sancov Age Group Coach

Coach Alexei have over 5 years of experience as a swim coach working with children starting from 2 years old, and adults up to 50 years old. His experience includes swimming technique, water safety, and injury prevention.

Throughout 19 years of his competitive swimming career, Coach Alexei was able to achieve titles such as Three-Time Olympian and World Championship participant, Youth Olympic Games finalist, former Junior World record holder in 200 freestyle, Six-Time Junior European Champion, USC Men's Swim Team 2019-2020 & 2020-2021 MVP, USC 200 IM and 200 Butterfly School record holder, PAC-12 swimmer of November 2019 and PAC-12 Champion, Two-Time CSCAA All-American, and many more.

Along with athletic accomplishments, Coach Alexei graduated from USC in May 2022 with a Social Science Degree with an emphasis in Behavioral Psychology major. He had over a 3.0 cumulative GPA which allowed him to earn a Scholar Athlete Award of Honor by David X. Marks Foundation and Dean’s List Honoree for 5 semesters in a row.

Coach Alexei joined the H2O coaching staff in May 2022 and his goal is to help swimmers acheive their full potential to make the best version of themselves in and outside the pool.

Tucker Rivera Assistant Coach

Coach Tucker Rivera is a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, and proud native of the great state of Colorado. He recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue his graduate studies at University of Southern California and his career in the entertainment industry. A four-year NCAA DIII Student Athlete, swimming for the Chicago Maroons from 2017-2021Tucker earned bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Public Policy Studies. While he focused on International Relations and American Law and Conflict in his undergraduate studies, he'll be beginning his Master's of Public Administration in the fall of 2022.

While this is the first time that Tucker has ever been given the title, "Coach," he has three years of experience teaching swim lessons to children ages 4-12.  Tucker views his experience at the "UChicago Swim School" as a crucial experience in his swimming career, and his ongoing mastery of the sport of swimming. 

Tucker grew up as a breaststroke and IM specialist, training with the University of Denver Hilltoppers (a Gold Medal USA Swimming Club) under Coach Shawn Smith. With the Hilltoppers, Tucker qualified for the USA Swimming Futures Championship and was a team champion at the 2017 Speedo Sectionals. At the University of Chicago, Tucker was a member of the UAA All-Academic Team in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. As a masters swimmer, Tucker currently holds top-10 USMS times in the 50SCM and 100SCM breaststroke

Having taught lessons for beginners, having swam at the national club level, and having trained as an NCAA student-athlete, Tucker knows the ins-and-outs of every level of the sport. Tucker loves the sport of swimming and dearly believes that among all sports, swimming helps to breed the healthiest balance of discipline, fitness, and happiness. He can't wait to help develop this promising swim program, and to be part of such a kind, qualified, and competent coaching staff.
