PAC CHAMPS RECAP SHARK: Shark did a tremendous job. All of the swimmers had a great first experience at PAC Champs, and all of them made it back to swim again at finals, so they all scored points for the team. Key made finals in every single event she swam! The boys got a chance to swim relays on both Saturday and Sunday, and both relays placed 3rd! Auggie placed 1stin the 9-10 Boys 50y backstroke and got his first ever Spring JO cut in the 100 backstroke! Way to...

Alpha Tri-Meet Recap SHARK: This past weekend Swim Torrance competed at the Alpha/Blast tri-meet at Loyola Marymount University. The shark group sent 16 athletes to compete and overall the group did amazing! The athletes overcame some very unpredictable weather and still followed all of my instructions. They stuck to the meet sandwich, which added to the overall success of the group. The Sharks did so well in fact, that we received compliments from fellow coaches about how strong the sharks looked and how their technique was on point. On the...

FAST Sprint Cup Meet Recap Sharks: Rain or shine, Sharks did an awesome job putting their game face on and stepping up on the block! We went into this meet as a pre-championship meet and came out strong! Over on the 8& under side, they did a great job warming-up properly as we noticed other teams scrambling around. While it went by quick, there weren’t any missed swims and Sasha K. And Sunday B. got placed in the top 3 on a few of there events! For the 9-10 year-olds...

Holiday Hustle - Canyons - WAG - Sr. Sectionals COACH HANA’S REVIEWS: Canyons Blue/Gold Good job to all the Sharks that participated in the swim meet! Having the swim meet indoors and going against just Canyons, the kids were excited to show what Swim Torrance has to offer! There were some great swims, but overall I was proud of the camaraderie amongst each other at this meet. We had a bunch cheering for each teammate and even to older groups. They were laughing and joking when they approached me to...

Canyons Cranberry Classic Meet Recap Shark: What another great experience for the Shark kids at the Cranberry Classic! The kids learned a new form of check-in where there isn’t a check in! They were all able to adapt and focus in a very tight warm-up timeline. Throughout the meet, I can really tell who is focusing and putting the technique in racing in practice. The highlight swimmers of this meet would be Key G. and Zeke E. they swam their very first 500 free on Friday and was definitely prepared since...

Swim Torrance is a USA Swimming Club Recognition Level 3 swim club! So, what is USA Swimming Club Recognition Program or CRP? Have you ever wondered what "great" clubs do to be great? That question is at the heart of the Club Recognition Program (or CRP). This program offers USA Swimming club members a working blueprint for developing strong, stable, financially sound and athletically productive organizations. Designed by USA Swimming's National Club Development Committee (comprised primarily of coaches), CRP is voluntary program that presents four levels of achievement across four...

IMX/IMR Meet Recap   SHARK What a great meet experience for all of the Sharks to race and learn this past weekend! I’m super proud of all the kids that got a chance to race in their first 50 butterfly, 100 IM, and even the 200 IM! I’m very happy to see almost every Shark 2 checking with coach so they know what to focus on in their race and I’m excited to see Shark 1’s performance on applying the 3 skills while racing against other teams. I’d like to...

Congratulations to Chris Brearton, Jack Brearton's father (National Track swimmer), for being appointed to the USA Swimming Board of Directors. He will serve a 4-year term as an one of 15 Board Members. His connection to swimming stems from being involved in the sport as an age grouper, as well as swimming for the University of Georgia. Post athletic career, he advised sports organizations in their media rights, sponsorship and event hosting matters. Chris also advised the International Olympic Committee on their global media strategy, host city analysis and US relations for over 15...

TSM Meet Recap   Shark - What a great start of season for the Sharks! We had over 90% of our 10&Unders attend the BRW meet. Everyone did a phenomenal job, but some key highlights were that every Swim Torrance Shark Group Swimmer was going up the block during the correct whistle and when we did the group warmup we ran it very smoothly and got a lot of compliments on our swimmers ability to line up and warmup correctly! Comparing last year’s TSM BRW to this year's TSM BRW...
