FROM COACH KIMI: Age Group swam really well at Spring Splash! The three skill challenge was motivating many swimmers to have great technique, and it showed. Some made notable changes in strokes, like Sophia C. Not a single event was missed by Age Group athletes, which may be a first ever at a meet. The winners of the challenge were Sasha and Claire in AG1 with 17/18 (94%) and Penny in AG2 with 16/18 (88%). I'm excited to see the swimmers continue to improve at the Mid-May Splash. The parent...

In 2019, USA Swimming created a Safe Sport Recognition system for club programs across the country. Swim Torrance was one of the first 50 teams in the nation to complete the initial certification requirements. During our first club reccognition, we were approved for two years. Since it expired this year, we had to re-apply by updating various documents to stay current. Thanks to all of our parents and athlete members for doing their part by taking the Athlete Protection Training course offered online by USA Swimming. Our renewed Safe Sport...

COACH KIMI: The parent volunteers were the highlight of the meet for me. I can't thank each of you enough for all of your hard work. We put on a really great meet for the Pacific Committee. Friday evening, I went to GMAC after practice to help, and for the most part, the deck was already set up. That helped so much on Saturday and Sunday, with minimal work to be done prior to the start of the morning session. The prep work and organization in all positions were what...

From Coach Kimi: The meet was so much fun, and the athletes swam well. I really enjoyed having all groups there at the same time, so kids of all ages could race each other. Age Group 1, Age Group 2, and Level 2 all did a great job talking to me about their races. They're getting very self-aware of what they did well and what they can continue to work on in practice to improve for the next meet. Age Group 2 did a great job facing the 100 butterfly...

From Coach Kimi: This was our first home meet of the season with all groups who can attend in-season meets, and there was a tremendous turnout. Thank you families for adhering to the Covid-19 protocols of masking, parents staying in the stands with athletes on deck, and maintaining social distancing. We know many of you probably have vaccines, and we appreciate you still adhering to these rules. Also, big thanks to the parent volunteers. Especially those who filled roles at the last minute since not all were full. We know...

FROM COACH KIMI: This weekend's meet at Santa Clarita was a really great way to get back into away meets. Parents did a wonderful job being timers and marshalls and cheering behind the fences. Athletes were really great about wearing their masks to and from their races, adhering to the warm down pool limitations, and staying 6ft apart, especially when coming to talk to coaches after their races. Age Group raced really well, and did an awesome job on their skills like leaving the walls correctly, breathing patterns, and having...

From Coach Kimi: Overall, the meets last weekend were a huge success. Big thank you to Coach Brian for getting the GMAC meet sanctioned at the last minute. Big thanks to the volunteer parents, lifeguards, officials, admin, and GMAC staff for helping run a smooth meet for the athletes. Also big thanks to families and Plunge staff for running multiple successful sessions at the Plunge on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's Shark and Level 1-2 session was very good, with athletes posting a lot of lifetime best times. The athletes have...
