Holiday Hustle - Canyons - WAG - Sr. Sectionals

COACH HANA’S REVIEWS:
Canyons Blue/Gold

Good job to all the Sharks that participated in the swim meet! Having the swim meet indoors and going against just Canyons, the kids were excited to show what Swim Torrance has to offer! There were some great swims, but overall I was proud of the camaraderie amongst each other at this meet. We had a bunch cheering for each teammate and even to older groups. They were laughing and joking when they approached me to check-in. And they were all excited to race together in a relay! I’m excited to see them continue to learn and grow with teammates that will lift each other up in future swim meets.

3 Skill Challenge Winner:
S1 G: Key G.
S1 B: Allen L., Thomas V.
S2 G: Sunday B.
S2 B: Mason T.

Holiday Hustle
The Swim Torrance 2018 Holiday Hustle was a great mock meet for all the swimmers and parents that attended the event! All the Pre-comp swimmers that participated learned the steps of checking in, team warm-up, going up on the block during the correct whistle, and sharing team spirit among their relay buddies. While the weather was on the chilly side, swimmers continued to race each other and show their families and coaches what they’ve learned and have been practicing since September! We had multiple parents also experience timing, giving away prizes, and checking swimmers into their events! Overall the kids had a blast, the meet ran smoothly, and there was a great turn-out! Thank you to the board members, coaches, and our awesome announcer Ryan for helping to bring the excitement for the future of Swim Torrance!

COACH KIMI’S REVIEWS:
Canyons Blue/Gold

Both Age Group 1 and 2 had great swims at this meet. It was a fun environment against Canyons swimmers. There were a lot of breakthrough swims, and really great racing. While we’re over halfway through the season, swimmers were still getting great stroke technique feedback that they can carry into holiday training and work on. Congrats to Aiden and Bella for winning high point awards for 11-12s.

Special shout out to Canyons for providing all timers so our families could enjoy watching their kids swim!

WAG
Among Shark 1, Age Group 1, and Age Group 2 there were 9 in attendance. Together they achieved 20 lifetime best swims! It was a great experience that helped them see what to expect during championship season.

COACH RACHAEL’S REVIEWS:
Canyons Blue/Gold

This meet was a new one for Swim Torrance athletes, and what an exciting change! Parents relaxed in the stands, free of timing duties, while Torrance swimmers battled Canyons head-to-head in a college dual meet set up. Athletes were given experiences swimming in-doors, and turning up their competitive drive in order to out-touch the other team. We saw major team wins when it came to strong finishes, but still need to work on perfecting our timing into turns. Congratulations to the numerous high point winners! You all represented Swim Torrance well!

WAG
The PreSenior group had 16 athletes representing Swim Torrance at the Winter Age Group Championships! This alone shows great things for the direction of our whole team. The PreSeniors got great experience racing tough competition in the morning, and had the fun task of representing the team in relays at finals. Both men and women qualified relays for the upcoming JO Meets! Congratulations to all Swim Torrance athletes at the WAG Meet. You should be very proud of your accomplishments!
