Canyons Cranberry Meet Recap

Coach Chantal:   Shark 1 & Shark 2: Swimmers were engaged for their 3 skills challenge and had more confidence in their races at the Cranberry Classic! Swimmers were great about being in the swimmers area and the Shark parents having their children be responsible in check-in and seeing me before and after races. The skills that they have been practicing showed up in their races at the meet! Keep it up Sharks!

3 Skills Challenge Winners:

Shark 1: Olivia

Shark 2: Daniela & Nicholson

Level 2 & Level 3: Swimmers did a great job being part of the swimmers team area and stepped up in their events and raced with confidence from their races back at IMX/IMR. The parents were great in having their child be in charge of their events and cheering from the parents section!

Coach Kimi:   This was a great meet to see where we're at halfway through the season. The Age Group swimmers are definitely improving, and I'm excited to see the racing speed and continued focus on skills put into practice during our upcoming winter training.

Big shoutout to the families for making the trek up to Santa Clarita. Also HUGE shoutout to the families for donating so many cans for the canned food drive. Our team got the 2nd place trophy and $500! We plan to use the money on our next team activity, which you'll soon hear about in the coming week.

3 Skill Challenge Winners:

Age Group 1 - Calvin C

Age Group 2 - Kanoa A

Coach Rachel:  Pre-Senior came ready to race in Santa Clarita. Racing effort and grit were clear additions to the skills shown, and everyone was looking strong in the water. Big drops came with big milestones, as some swimmers hit sub-30 second 50 freestyles, and sub-1:00 100 Freestyles - Miranda M dropped over 4 seconds in her 100 FR to go a 59.74 and Lawrence P dropped over 3 seconds in his 50 Free, down to a 27.95!

Some notable first time swims were the 500 Free for Wilson T, and a 200 Fly for David S. and Derek S.!  To top it off, a few more WAG and JO cuts have been added to the Pre Senior list. Thanks again to parents and swimmers that brought in canned goods for the event to make the Thanksgiving holiday possible for more Santa Clarita community members, and help Swim Torrance place second in the competition!

Coach Brian: Canyons was our last chance to race before the December Championship meets coming up, and the last chance to qualify for WAG. National Track/Husky Invite swimmers swam Saturday only and looked sharp following some great training after the Kevin Perry Invite.

The Senior group raced well coming off a long break between IMX and this meet.  Alex Y. raced to best times in all 8 races, including a 54.43 100 free. Ben was right behind with 7 best times and 2 new WAG times in 200 breast and 200 back. Sohyeon raced well in the 200 IM w a 2:15 personal best and dropped 18 seconds in the 200 breast.

Marcus swam to 4 personal best times, including just missing WAG in the 500 free w a 5:13. Jude picked up two new WAG times in the 50, 100 free. Francesca went a best time of 2:47 in the 200 IM.  Cheers to all our Senior swimmers on a great meet.
