Husky Invite/Holiday Hustle Recaps

Brian Timmerman

Nine National Track, Senior, and Pre-Senior swimmers travelled to Federal Way, Washington, December 6-8 to take on some of the fastest Senior swimmers on the west coast, including college swimmers from UC Santa Barbara, San Jose State, and Seattle University. Because of the upcoming Olympic Trials meet in June, prelims at this meet were short course and finals long course.

New team records were set by Jack in 400 IM and 500 free for 15-16 boys and Elsie for 13-14 girls in 100 and 200 breast. Finalists were Jack, Noah, Dylan, Ricky and Elsie. Noah made finals in four events.

Ricky achieved his first Sectional qualifying time in 200 fly, and made a Sectional bonus time in 200 free.  Many personal best times were achieved: by Mie in 50 free and 100 fly, Chris in 200 IM, Makena in 50,100 200 free and 100 fly, and Erin in 50, 100 free, 100 fly and 200 back.

There was a great showing at this years Holiday Hustle! Thank you to parents who volunteered for all posts! You helped run the meet smoothly! Swimmers did well with going to their coaches and reading the posted heat sheets to know when they needed to be by the block. Even with the intermittent rainy weather, swimmers swam well and had good spirits, especially with the team relays! We look forward to seeing everyone at the next mock meet in the spring!
