PAC-CHAMPS Recap

Brian Timmerman

PAC-CHAMPS PHOTO: Brianna readies herself for her first SWIM-OFF. She swam like lightning!

SHARKS from coach Chantal:  Shark swimmers were new and therefore very excited to compete at this Prelims/ Finals meet. Swimmers were extra prepared and willing to do what they could to get back to finals by racing fast! I saw great technique skills and sub kicks for the Shark swimmers as they race their respective events. Brianna A. tied for first alternate on Saturday and patiently waited for her swim off after the 500 Free's and a thunderstorm delay. Every swimmer got 1 or more best times! Sasha K returned for finals for individual events on both Saturday and Sunday and his teammates Olivia J, Chloe T, Brianna A, Charli R all returned for finals as well! Two Shark 2 swimmers grabbed the opportunity to race in Sunday's 10 & Under Boys relay, Andrew K and Ethan R! They showed team support and overall energy in their racing as well as cheering their teammates! It was a fantastic introduction to a prelims/ finals meet for the Sharks, they crushed it!

AGE GROUP from coach Kimi: Age Group swimmers did really well at PAC Champs. I saw a lot of fast racing for a championship meet. I also saw tremendous skills, like beating competitors off the walls via strong sub-kicks into explosive breakouts. There were a lot of people getting to come back and swim at finals, which is always great experience.

The rain couldn't stop us from having a ton of lifetime best swims. Big shoutout to Noah K who won 3 events for 10&Under Boys (50 BR, 100 BR, and 50 BK) and Kayla who also won an event for 11-12 Girls (100 BK). It was a really exciting way to start off championship season!

PRE-SENIOR from coach Rachel: PAC Champs brought some great swims for Pre-Senior. It is evident that sub kicks were well-practiced, and major progress has been made with the group’s open turns! Knowing paces and how to race has been a large part of training and the awareness from each swimmer has grown since the fall.

Many swimmers earned second swims to top of the weekend! Our JO team grew with Bella qualifying in the 100 FL, which was 2nd place overall for 13&O Girls. She also placed 2nd in the 200 BK on Saturday for 11&O Girls, and won the 400 IM for 11&O Girls on Friday! Chloe snagged 4th overall in the 11&O 200 BR on Sunday. Excited to see what’s next for this crew of Pre-Senior swimmers!

SENIOR from coach Brian: We had a great meet at Pac Champs, with many personal best times in prelims, which led to ELEVEN swimmers making finals and getting a second swim. This was an important experience for many of our Senior swimmers who are closing in on Sectional times. Ben, Jinho and Alex each made five finals, which meant lots of swims in the 3 day/or for most swimmers 2 day meet format.

Boys A team relays finished 2nd in 400 free and 200 Medley.

Other finalists (top 16) included Davide in 1650, 100 back, Kayle in 100 back, Andrew in 200 free, 100 back, 50 free, Chris in 100 breast, Marcus in 200 fly, Ethan in 200 back, Jude in 200 breast, 100 fly, and Jason Tr. in 100, 200 fly.
