Senior 2 Trials and Finals Meet hosted by Pleasanton Seahawks

The Pleasanton Seahawks (PLS) hosted the Pacific Swimming Short Course Yards Senior 2 Trials and Finals Meet on November 9 - 10 at the team’s pool facility in Pleasanton.  More than 700 swimmers from 49 teams in Pacific Swimming as well as other top teams from Sierra Nevada and Oregon were in attendance.

 

On the women’s side for PLS, Claire Suen had a great meet making four finals appearances.  She finished 1st in the 50 Free B-Final (24.27), 3rd in the 200 Free A-Final (1:51.97), 3rd in the 100 Free A-Final (52.32) and 2nd in the 500 Free B-Final (5:08.97).  Sydney Lu also had a great meet making the finals in all six of her events, five of which were in the A-Finals.  Sydney earned 5thin the 200 IM A-Final (2:05.70), 2nd in the 100 Fly A-Final (55:38), 2nd in the 200 Breast B-Final (2:23.97), 1st in the 200 Fly A-Final (1:57.93), 7th in the 100 Breast A-Final (1:04.45) and 2nd in the 400 IM A-Final (4:24.99).  Crystal Wang made four finals and finished with 7th in the 200 Free B-Final (1:56.04, a new sectional cut), 10th in the 500 Free A-Final (5:12.80 with a 5:09.45 at prelims for a new sectional cut), 6th in the 1000 Free (10:45.45), and 6th in the 1650 Free (17:55.94).  Olivia Kim also made four finals and captured 1st in the 200 Free C-Final (1:55.85), 5th in the 500 Free A-Final (5:04.60), 3rd in the 1000 Free (10:23.87), and 2nd in the 1650 Free (17:23.91).  Faith Carroll made three finals and earned 7th in the 200 Free C-Final (1:58.09), 5th in the 500 Free B-Final (5:12.30), and 4th in the 1000 Free (10:38.87).  Emma Wang swam a best time in the 200 Breast (2:23.43) finishing 10th in the C-Final.  Kaitlin Lee finished 10th in the 500 Free B-Final (5:21.36), 9th in the 400 IM B-Final (4:47.41), and 9th in the 1650 Free (18:27.25).  Meghan Ly competed in two B-Finals and earned 4th in the 100 Breast (1:07.01) and 8th in the 400 IM (4:46.60).  

 

For the PLS men, we had 11 swimmers make finals.  Allen Dempster, a newcomer to the team, swam in three finals.  He achieved 9th in the 100 Fly C-Final (53.47), 4th in the 100 Back A-Final (50.56), and 3rd in the 200 Back A-Final (1:50.37).  Lleyton Plattel swam in six finals with best times along the way.  Lleyton got 3rd in the 200 Back C-Final (1:56.49), 10th in the 100 Fly C-Finals (54.11), 3rd in the 200 Free A-Final (1:40.94), 8th in the 200 Fly B-Final (1:57.65), 3rd in the 500 Free A-Final (4:33.13), and 1stin the 1000 Free (9:11.72).  Alex Ren also made finals in all six of his races claiming two best times along the way.  Alex earned 4th in the 200 Back B-Final (1:53.69), 7th in the 200 IM A-Final (1:55.15), 10th in the 200 Free A-Final (1:44.74), and 7th in the 100 Free B-Final (48.23).  In his distance events, Alex got 1st in the 500 Free B-Final (4:37.95) and 5th in the 400 IM A-Final (4:02.84).  Justin Tsai competed in both backstroke finals and finished 10th in the 200 Back B-Final (1:58.61) and 2nd in the 100 Back C-Final (54.07).  Andy Eun got two 5th places in the breaststroke events from the 200 Breast B-Final (2:10.90) and 100 Breast A-Final (57.13).  Taber DaCosta swam in two A-Finals and got two best times.  Taber earned 6th in the 200 IM (1:55.10) and 4th in the 500 Free (4:34.51).  Hayden Tupper swam in the C-Final of the 500 Free (5:01.78) and finished 8th place.  Jay Jani swam in the C-Final of the 200 Breast (2:15.24) and finished 5th place.  Devyn Caples got two first place finishes in the C-Finals of the 500 Free (4:47.15) and 400 IM (4:11.33).  

 

The last two men making the finals were Ethan Wang and Andrew Wang.  Ethan earned 3rd in the 200 IM B-Final (1:57.07), 9th in the 200 Free B-Final (1:46.07), 3rd in the 500 Free B-Final (4:41.08), 10th in the 400 IM A-Final (4:11.30), and 2nd in the 1650 Free (16:16.60).  Andrew finished 8th in the 200 IM B-Final (1:58.24), 6th in the 500 Free A-Final (4:37.20), 5th in the 400 IM B-Final (4:11.46), 3rd in the 1000 Free (9:38.65), and 1st in the 1650 Free (15:46.86, a new Jr. National cut).
