2019 Winter Junior Olympics Championships

The Winter 2019 Junior Olympics Championships was held in San Jose, California December 6th-8th, 2019.  As many as 940 swimmers from 70 top clubs in Pacific Swimming competed in this age-group championship meet.  The Pleasanton Seahawks (PLS) captured three top awards: 2nd Place Team Award, High Point Award 11 Year Old Female to Natalie Mak, and High Point Award 12 Year Old Female to Alexis Mesina.

 

After 3-days of competition, many PLS swimmers raced to personal best times, team records, and most importantly, lots of team fun.  Their enthusiasm and amazing effort amassed 29 - 1st Place medals, 29 - 2nd Place medals, and 16 – 3rd Place medals.   The 19 PLS top medalists were:  Francesca Lin (2nd Place 200y Free), Eilidh Salgarino (two 1st Place – 50y Free and 50y Fly), Brooke Bennett (four 1st Place – 500y/1650y Free and 100y/200y Breaststroke; two 2nd Place – 100y Back and 400y IM; and 3rd Place 200y Free), Emmy Loftus (2nd Place 1650y Free), Natalie Mak (seven 1st Place – 50y/100y/200y Back, 50y/100y Fly, and 200y/400y IM), Alexis Mesina (four 1st Place – 50y/100y/200y Breaststroke and 100y IM; two 2nd Place – 200y/400y IM; and 3rdPlace 100y back), Aria Harris (3rd Place 50y Free), Kaitlin Lee (1st Place 400y IM and 2nd Place 200y IM), Meghan Ly (two 1stplace – 100y/200y Breaststroke), Christopher Wang (two 3rd Place – 500y Free and 200y IM), Iian Burnes (2nd Place 1650y Free), Jared Burnes (1st Place 1650y Free), Oryan Liu (2nd Place 200y Breaststroke; and four 3rd Place – 50y/100y Breaststroke and 100y/400y IM), Tyler Liu (three 2nd Place – 1650y Free and 200y/400y IM), Dereck Nguy (1st Place 50y Fly; and three 2nd Place – 50y/100y Free and 100y Fly), Ethan Wang (1st Place 200y Breaststroke, four 2nd Place – 50y/100y Breaststroke, 200y Fly, and 400y IM; and 3rd Place 200y IM), Tim Wu (two 2nd Place – 500y Free and 200y IM; and 3rd Place 200y Free), Devyn Caples (two 1st Place – 500y Free and 200y Breaststroke; 2nd Place 200y IM; and 3rd Place 200y Free), and Hayden Tupper (two 1st Place – 100y/200y Back; 2nd Place 100y Free; and 3rd Place 200y Free).
