ACAC swimmers tackle first Long Course meet of 2021 season

(KINGSPORT, Tenn.) More than 30 swimmers from the Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) traveled to Kingsport over Mother’s Day weekend to take on serious competition in the first Long Course meet of the 2021 season. The swim club performed highly, with more than a third of the athletes bringing home accolades for being in the top three high points winners for their age group.

  • In the 9 Year Old Men age bracket, Ben Martin took first place with 56 points earned for the team. Evan Ciorciari took third place in this category. 
  • Emmy Zimmer won second place in the 10 Year Old Women category with 48 points. 
  • Olivia Foy-McDaniel won overall high points in the 11 Year Old Women category with 52 points earned.  
  • Karol Shaw was the 12 Year Old Men winner with 51 points. 
  • Karley Wolfgram came in second place in the 13 Year Old Women category with 37 points. 
  • Kuba Shaw won the 13 Year Old Men category with 50 total points. 
  • Andrew Chou took first place in the 14 Year Old Men category with 45 points and Stephen Zhukov came in second with 38 points. 
  • Rosalee Wenhame was second overall in the 15 & Over Women category with 30 points. 
  • Camden Gerchar took second in the 15 & Over Men category with 25 points. 

“Our swimmers came out and performed really well,” said Andy Wagner, ACAC’s head coach. “It has been nearly two years since we swam a Long Course meet and these kids were up for the challenge.” 

Numerous athletes earned Southeastern Championship qualifying times and many are on the verge of achieving those standards. In just over a month the athletes will have another chance to reach those standards at the TNAQ Summer Long Course Invitational June 18-20.
