ACAC sets up for Mid-Season Explosion in TNAQ Invitational

Fifty-one members of the Atomic City Aquatic Club descended on the Allan Jones Aquatics Center last week to compete in the Tennessee Aquatics Fall Invitational.  Atomic City is a year-round club swimming team, located in Oak Ridge Tennessee.  The team trains all year long in training cycles designed to build and peak at certain championship competitions throughout the year.  This past weekend's meet in the University of Tennessee pool is the last opportunity to prepare and swim races leading into another competition in Nashville next month where the team will swim individually specific events where they expect to swim at the top of their game. 

 “The TNAQ meet was a great experience,” says Head Coach Andy Wagner. “The kids have been building up to this for nearly three months.  We are tired and beat up, but swimming up to our expectations for this point of the season.”

Olivia Foy-McDaniel (12) - 100 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 100 IM, 200 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 backstroke, 50 Freestyle, and 500 Freestyle

Abigail King (17) - 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke

Ben Martin (9) - 50 Freestyle

ACAC’s next competition will be the Excel Meet of Champs held in Brentwood, TN next month.  “ At this point of the season,” Coach Wagner states, “most of our swimmers have trained for 12 weeks and have 2-3 meets under their belts.  We feel really confident in the races we are preparing for a meet we are very much looking forward to getting some rest to prepare for!  This weekend was a great test for us, and we are looking forward to the Meet of Champs!”
