Janine Simioni Director, Age Group, Seniors, Masters

Coach Janine Simioni began swimming at age 7 for the Santa Barbara YMCA and continued her competitive career with the SBCATS. During her high school season she wanted to work harder and train for the Olympics. So she stopped swimming for her high school and was driven each day to Mission Viejo to train for the Olympics.

After all her training for the 1980 Olympics and then being boycotted that year, Coach Janine was offered NCAA and Division I scholarships to UCLA and USC but decided she didn't want to swim competitively but just for fun.

Coach Janine decided to continue her education by attending SBCC where she double majored in accounting and EMT schooling. She then decided she loved the medical field and went to Paramedic School where she excelled in trauma medicine. She was a life flight paramedic for 14 years and worked in a trauma level one and two hospitals. She also enjoyed scuba diving so much she took classes on scuba search and rescue. She worked for the S. B Co. Sheriff's scuba search and rescue department for 20 years.

Coach Janine has been Head Coach and director of the RMLS Seadogs, MESA Swim Club, and now Seadogs Swim Club for the past 20 years where she helped develop a successful competitive year-round program while continuing to coach recreational and Pre. Competitive programs. She has also coached for Higley High School as an asst. coach. She carries a Level 4 ASCA certification, Lifeguarding, ISFTA aquatic fitness specialist, ISR infant Swimming Rescue instructor. Coach Janine has taught over 400 babies to adult to swim with the number climbing each day. Coach Janine enjoys seeing the smiles on the swimmers faces when they accomplish new things and can prefect their technique.

Coach Janine and her husband have lived in Arizona since 1998 and have two children. Her daughter Jennifer stills swims in open water swims and is also an assistant coach for the Seadogs. Coach Janine's son was also a swimmer but enjoyed football more.

Coach Kris started swimming at age 5 in San Jose, California with her 5 siblings. She competed in age group swimming holding many records in her age group. During college Coach Kris decided to take on her first swim coach position at the age of 19. While attending the fire academy and begin a career as a wildland firefighter in Northern California, Coach Kris was the Head Coach for the City Pool. Coach Kris worked at the fire department for 10 years while having a family. She had 5 kids and decided to devote her attention to raising her family and left the fire department. She coached the fire department’s Soccer, baseball, and track teams for years.

She moved to Az in 2000 and took a position as a swim coach with Swim Tucson and even owned her own team at a local resort. When her kids were in high school Coach Kris took a position as the head swim coach and track coach at the HS while teaching. When her older kids graduated she continued to coach and has never stopped producing amazing athletes.

Coach Kris feels that having a strong foundation is the key to success! To this day Coach Kris insists that kids need to enjoy sports not just play. Once you get them to love their sport, coaching them is easy and rewarding.

Chris Robinson Age Group, Senior, Masters

Coach Chris has coached since 1995, coaching at different levels from YMCA, USA Age Group, high school and USA Masters. He has been able to start 2 successful aquatics programs, a women’s water polo team in California and Higley High School’s Swim and Dive Team, in Gilbert, AZ, where he is currently the head coach. He has coached in California, Arizona and Minnesota and has enjoyed every experience he was given to build on his own coaching philosophy (technique, technique, & fun). Coach Chris’s swimmers have broken over 200 school records; have been state finalist; regional champions and All-Americans.

Coach Chris has been with Mesa Seadogs since 2014 when his daughter joined the team.  The thing that drew him to the Seadogs for his daughter’s swim career and his coaching career was the small team (coach to swimmer ratio), the focus on technique and Coach Janine’s background as an USA Olympic Team Member/Swimmer, coaching of Olympic and National athletes, and her drive to do what is right for her swimmers. When Coach Chris was asked why he continues to coach for the Seadogs he stated, “Everybody is about large teams, thinking bigger is better. I know as a coach, too many kids get over looked on a large team. I wanted that special connection with my swimmers and provide opportunities for technique instruction that we provide as a small team and parents are looking for.”

Coach Chris has been a High School Teacher since 1998 working with students that have learning disabilities. Coach Chris has two kids, William in the NAVY and Megan attending Gilbert/Chandler Community College. Chris has lived in Arizona for over 11 years.
