HOW TO RECEIVE A FREE TRIAL MEMBERSHIP
Memphis Thunder welcomes swimmers of all backgrounds and abilities. To join our team, contact Head Coach Dan Schultz and request a one-week trial membership. Here's how to try out our team:
1. Contact our coaches and request a free trial membership. Our annual Stroke Clinic is exempt from the one-week trial. Stroke Clinic is $150 and is due on the first day of attendance. Stroke Clinic is held from mid August to mid September each year.
2. A membership coordinator will contact you to answers any questions.
NOTE: Once your trial membership is completed, you must complete the registration process and forward payment before swimming resumes.
Memphis Thunder is a parent-run swim club. Each family is required to fulfill a certain number of volunteer hours/units throughout our September 1 - August 31 year. These are very easy to get and it is a great way to become familiar with the sport of swimming and get to know other Thunder parents. There are several opportunities throughout the year during our Thunder-hosted swim meets. When the opportunity to fulfill hours arises, you will receive an email. Please go onto the website and sign up at that time. You must earn the required units whether or not your swimmer swims in a particular (or any) meet during the season and regardless of the number of practices attended.
Annual required service units are as follows:
Spark – 10 units
Bolt – 15 units
Blast, Rumble, Thunder High School, Thunder Performance, Thunder High Performance – 20 units
If you have multiple swimmers, your maximum is 25 units per year regardless of the number of swimmers. NOTE: The only exception to the above is for families that only have swimmers in the Spark group. The required service units for Spark group swimmers are 10 units per family regardless of the number of swimmers in the Spark group. For example, if you have 2 swimmers and both are in the Spark group, your total volunteer units requirement is 10 units total.
Fees for non-compliance:
One service unit is equivalent to $30. Families who do not complete their service unit requirement for the year will be billed $30 for each unfulfilled hour.
Families are responsible for the service unit obligation for each month that they are on the team and are billed for unfulfilled hours upon leaving the team.
On September 1 of each year, any unfulfilled service hours are due and collected from members. If leaving MTAC before September 1, unfulfilled hours are due upon leaving.
