SENIOR

Lead Coach: Coach Cameron Higdon ([email protected])

The Senior Group (Senior) is designed for high school aged swimmers who are committed to propelling their swimming to the next level. Senior Group swimmers must be focused on group goals, personal goals, technique development, building a training base, and racing. Stroke refinement is key in this group, as swimmers begin to experience more intense, longer workouts. Senior practices are offered 6 days per week, up to 9 workouts per week, and include drylands and weight training, in addition to the water training. Swimmers in this group will be expected to attend all meets offered (or as many as possible) and any championship meets for which they qualify.  Senior Group swimmers are expected to serve as role models for the younger swimmers and act as leaders for the entire team.

An exception may be made if an 8th grader:

  • Is a minimum of 13-years-old.
  • Is moving into the Senior Group at the start of the short course or at the start of the long course season.
  • Consistently attends a minimum of 5 practices per week if a Prime swimmer.
  • Successfully completes a 2-week trial attending the Senior Group, including at least 1 morning practice each week of the trial.
  • Consistently participates in all meets and Championship meets (if qualifies) offered each short course and long course season.
  • In competition, achieves 2 National A Motivational Times in 13-14 age group, OR 4 National B Motivational Times in 15-16 age group.
  • Has lead coaches (Cameron, Kayla, Jenna) who support the move into the Senior Group.
  • Has parents who support the move into the Senior Group.
  • Can achieve in practice 5 x 100 @ 1:30 (SCM); 3 x 100 kick @ 1:45 (SCM); 3 x 100 IM @ 1:45 (SCM).

*An exemption for a high-school aged swimmer to remain in the Junior Group may be made if the swimmer is new and requires some time to acclimate to the training schedule before entering the Senior Group.
