Heartland Swimming Association’s Annual Aquafest

What is it?
Each year we ask our swimmers to solicit sponsors for our swim-a-thon, which we call Aquafest. Swimmers swim laps (any stroke) for one hour while a staff member keeps count. Donations are collected either by a flat donation or by pledge of a certain amount per lap. We now handle all the paperwork through our website- log into your account, upload a picture, personalize the sample letter provided and email it to family and friends. They can simply click on a link in the email and make a donation on behalf of your swimmer! Anyone wishing to make a per lap pledge will need to make their donation after the event when you tell them how many laps you swam. All donations should be completed by Thursday, October 29. Donations are tax deductible.

When and where is it?
This year, we will be swimming during your practice time one day during the week of October 19.
The Senior team will swim on Monday, October 19.
The Fall League will swim on Tuesday, October 20.
The Junior Gold and Gold Teams will swim on Wednesday, October 21. The TThF Junior Gold group will swim on Thursday, October 22.
The Senior Development team will swim on Thursday, October 22.
Groups will warm up at their normal practice start time.

Why do we do this?
The annual HSA Aquafest is the biggest fundraiser we do all year and is designed to support ongoing activities for Heartland Swim Association. This is especially important this year as we are unable to host swim meets or offer our usual dining fundraisers. The monies raised help to keep our dues low, to pay for pool time at various facilities, to reimburse coaches' expenses for out-of-town meets and to pay our staff so we keep the best coaches in San Diego.

While all swimmers are expected to swim in the Aquafest, fundraising is intended for our year-round swimmers. We encourage those swimmers who are in our fall league to participate in fundraising, but it is not required.

How much money do we raise? Can we "buy-out"?
Each year round swimmer is expected to raise $150 in donations. If you would prefer a "buy-out" option, the cost is $150 per family and can be completed through the website. For those swimmers who are unable to participate on Aquafest night, your child can still collect flat donations for the team. Some coaches offer a make-up night for swimmers unable to attend.

Thank you for your support of Heartland Swim!
