Heartland Swimming Association's Annual Aquafest

What is it?
Each year we ask our swimmers to solicit sponsors for our swim-a-thon, which we call Aquafest. Swimmers swim laps (any stroke) for one hour while a fellow swimmer or parent keeps count. Donations are collected either by a flat donation or by pledge of a certain amount per lap. We now handle all the paperwork through our website- log into your account, upload a picture, personalize the sample letter provided and email it to family and friends. They can simply click on a link in the email and make a donation on behalf of your swimmer! Anyone wishing to make a per lap pledge will need to make their donation after the event when you tell them how many laps you swam.

All donations should be completed by Thursday, October 27. Donations are tax-deductible.

When and where is it?
This year, we will be swimming on Wednesday, October 12 from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at the El Cajon Valley High School pool. Each of our practice groups will be given a one-hour time slot to complete their swim. The Junior Gold and 12/Under Fall Special Teams will swim from 4-5 pm; the Senior and Gold Teams will swim from 5:15-6:15 pm; and the Senior Development and 13/Over Fall Special Teams will swim from 6:30-7:30 pm. Groups will most likely warm up 15 minutes before their start time-check with your coach.

Why do we do this?
The annual HSA Aquafest is the biggest fundraiser we do all year and is designed to support ongoing activities for Heartland Swim Association.

Aquafest is intended for our year-round swimmers, but we encourage those swimmers who are in one of our fall “specials” to participate in both swimming and fundraising.

How much money do we raise? Can we “buy-out”?
Each year-round swimmer is expected to raise $150 in donations. If you would prefer a “buy-out” option, the cost is $150 per family and can be completed through the website. For those swimmers who are unable to participate on Aquafest night, your child can still collect flat donations for the team.

Groups may be offering special incentives for top fundraisers and if Heartland reaches our donation goal amount- $18,000- before the Aquafest begins, we’ll be having a pizza party for everyone! We’ve done it before- let’s do it again!

How can I help?
You can help by supporting your child in getting donations in advance. On the night of the Aquafest we will need lots of parents to help count laps.
