Virtual Training for Competition Athletes

2020 Competition Virtual Training Program (May – August)

  • A 7 day/week training program with workouts and resources for the athletes to complete on their own, with physical distancing guidelines currently in place
  • Online support from the new Comp Head Coach, Jordan Cascagnette, in tailoring the program to each athlete's goals
  • Three virtual training team sessions per week led by the Head Coach (2 strength sessions, 1 content session), commencing May 4
  • Access to Head Coach feedback on technique videos taken by athlete (or parents) and shared with the Head Coach
  • All athletes will require a Swiss/Physio Ball in order to complete the strength session.

Excited about the 2020/2021 season?

Program descriptions for biathlon and cross-country skiing programs are now posted at www.highlandstrailblazers.ca 
  • To keep competitive athletes motivated and engaged, we are offering virtual training for three Comp programs:  
    1. Air Rifle (age 14/15)
    2. Biathlon .22
    3. Cross Country (aka Nordic)
    • Registration open now. Registration deadline May 3
    • Important: No communication with coach until athlete is registered and code of conduct signed and returned)
  • Given COVID-19 and physical distancing, we are not opening general registration until further notice.
  • Stay tuned for updates on regular programming.

The Shelby Dickey Memorial Scholarship
Shelby Dickey will forever remain a valued member of the cross-country ski community and Nipissing University. She spent four years at Nipissing University completing her undergraduate degree, then another two years working towards her Master of Science in Kinesiology, which she has since earned. A few of her many accomplishments include eight OUA bronze medals, two top 30 finishes in the World University Games, 3-time OUA All-Star, a CCUNC bronze medal.

The legacy of her brilliance, strength, and humility will carry through the Shelby Dickey Memorial Scholarship at Nipissing University.
