HIGHLANDS TRAILBLAZERS COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY
PURPOSE
Highlands Trailblazers is committed to creating safe working and training environments for employees, volunteers and athletes. This Covid-19 provides guidelines on expectations and requirements for those participating in Highlands Trailblazers programs (staff, coaching volunteers, support volunteers and athletes).
Highlands Trailblazers reserves the right to limit or deny participation in programs based on health and safety protocols.
Highlands Trailblazers, as a member in good standing of Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) & Biathlon Ontario (BiON), will follow the public health recommendations and requirements of XCSO & BiON.
SCOPE
This policy applies to staff, coaching volunteers, program support volunteers and athletes eligible for COVID 19 vaccine involved in Highlands Trailblazers programs.
POLICY
While we strongly encourage participants to follow public health vaccination guidelines, Highlands Trailblazers has suspended its policy requiring vaccination. However, Highlands Trailblazers will reinstate its vaccination policy under the following condition:
- Should proof of vaccination requirements be reimplemented by the Province of Ontario or the Simcoe Muskoka Public Health Unit , Highlands Trailblazers will reinstate its vaccination policy.
- If the vaccination policy is reinstated, participants unwilling to comply will receive a pro-rata refund of their fees.
Masking is suggested while indoors (including vehicles), social distancing is to be maintained as much as possible, and all program participants are encouraged to continue frequent hand sanitizing protocols.
All participants are required to perform self-screening procedures (as determined by the coach or team leader) prior to participating in any programme.
POLICY LIMITATIONS
Highlands Trailblazers has no control over what restrictions other organizations may impose. Other clubs, Provincial Sports Bodies and National Sports Bodies may have more stringent policies that may restrict unvaccinated participants from attending races, camps or other activities. Participants who are prohibited from participating by organizations outside of Highlands Trailblazers will not be eligible for any reduction in fees.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Information related to an individual’s proof of vaccine or a medical exemption for vaccination will be maintained by Highlands Trailblazers in a confidential file. This information will only be used to determine participation in HTB programming. When the information is no longer required for that purpose it will be destroyed. Retention of these records is part of tracing protocols in the event of an outbreak.
