The 2022 Phillips 66 National Championships took place this summer in Irvine, California. Patrick Sammon had an incredible meet and won the title of the 18/under National Champion in both the 100 and 200 meter freestyle events. USA Swimming compiles an All-Time Top 100 ranking of the fastest times throughout competitive swimming history by age group, event, course, and gender. Over the weekend of July 30/31, our team hosted 300 plus swimmers representing 12 teams at the Prospector Plunge. This was by far the largest meet our team has hosted and it was a huge success. We had 54 AquaSol swimmers participate. For many, this was their first USA meet experience! AquaSol swimmers were busy over the four day weekend of July 21st - 24th. The team sent swimmers to Roseville to compete in the USA Swimming Speedo Sectional Championships and to Sacramento to compete in the Bill Rose Classic. Both of these meets are trials and finals meets with qualifying times to enter the meet. While attending Boy Scout camp in July this summer, Sean Kirkpatrick trained daily in Lower Bear Reservoir. Towards the end of the camp the Boy Scouts competed in an open water swim of one (1) mile. Competing in a pair of board shorts, Sean completed the open water mile in a time of 20:03 breaking the previous record (22:06) by over 2 minutes! The record had stood for nearly five years! Sierra Nevada Swimming announced their final roster for the 2022 SNS Select Camp. Cruz Lopez, from AquaSol Swim Team and trains with the Senior Group, was invited to attend the camp. This camp is comprised of Forty (40) of Sierra Nevada's Top Age Group Athletes based on their rankings within the 11 - 12 year old & 13-14 year old Age Groups during the current 2021-2022 season (9/1/2021 to 3/13/2022). The Southwestern Age Group Regional (SWAGR) Championships for 14 & under swimmers was run March 24 - March 27, 2022. The Clovis Swim Club hosted the meet at the Clovis North High School Aquatic Complex. There were over 60 teams competing at the meet with teams traveling from Oregon, Hawaii, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and California. Over the weekend of March 11 - 13, 2022 Sierra Nevada Swimming hosted the 14 & Under short course yards Junior Olympic Championships. The meet was held at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center. There were twenty three teams represented from the Sierra Nevada LSC. The meet has the Junior Olympic qualifying time standard that each athlete must attain to compete in individual events.
