Aquasol has great meet at 2014 Sierra Nevada lcm Junior Olympic Championships!

During the past weekend Aquasol Swim Team raced at the 2014 Sierra Nevada long course meter Junior Olympic Championships at the Roseville Aquatic Center.  This was a trials and finals meet spread out over four days.  The team had twenty three swimmers compete at the meet over the course of the meet!  Overall, the team finished in 20th place.

  The team posted a lot of great swims and supported one another throughout the meet!  Following are some highlights of the meet:

Finalists for Aquasol:

  • Kyle Lehr (11 & 12 boys):  50 freestyle – 6th place; 100 freestyle – 3rd place; 200 freestyle – 4th place; 400 freestyle – 3rd place; 50 backstroke – 4th place; 100 backstroke – 3rd place; 200 backstroke – 3rd place.
  • McKenna Peterson (15 – 18 girls):  1500 freestyle – 8th place
  • Caitlin Wham (8 & under girls): 50 butterfly – 3rd place
  • Collin Wham (10 & under boys):  50 butterfly – 7th place; 100 backstroke – 8th place
  • Gary Woo (15 – 18 boys): 100 backstroke – 4th place
  • Samantha Woo (15 – 18 girls): 200 freestyle – 4th place; 400 freestyle – 8th place

  The team also had two swimmers break team records:

  • Kyle Lehr (11 & 12 boys): 100 freestyle (1:03.05); 200 freestyle (2:17.92); 400 freestyle (4:51.83); 50 backstroke (:34.63); 100 backstroke (1:14.35); 200 backstroke (2:39.62)
  • Caitlin Wham (8 & under girls): 50 butterfly (:44.07)

  Congratulations to all of our finalists and to our team record breakers!  Also of note, Riley Carpenter swam seven events and had seven best times, Colin Wham had seven best times and Logan Peterson was three for three with best times!  In their first long course meters Junior Olympics Ben Yoder, Josh O’Meara and Skylar all posted at least one best time during the meet.  Molly Covington and Hannah Covington both broke 5:00 minutes in the 400 freestyle.  Fiona Dodson broke :30 sec in the 50 freestyle earning a new Senior Western Zone cut!
