AquaSol Senior Swimmers Compete at Speedo Sectionals

Senior swimmers, Kyle Lehr and Patrick Sammon, traveled to Carlsbad, California the last weekend of February for the Speedo Sectional Championships.  This is a qualifying standard meet with the top senior swimmers from California and Nevada competing against one another.  There were over 900 swimmers competing at the meet.

Over the course of four days both Kyle and Patrick had excellent swims.  Kyle Lehr posted best times in the 50/ 100 & 200 freestyles and the 100 backstroke.  In the 200 freestyle Kyle qualified for the bonus final and finished third in his final heat with a new best time.  During the meet Kyle broke the 15/16 team record in the 100 freestyle (:47.13) and the 100 backstroke (:52.92).  He also lowered his team record in the 200 freestyle (1:42.01).

Patrick Sammon posted four best times over the course of the meet posting a 4:42.71 in the 500 free, a 1:43.07 in the 200 free and a :47.61 in the 100 freestyle.  He also lowered his time in the 100 back going a :54.28.

Both swimmers showed exceptional mental fortitude during the meet. Maintaining a positive attitude despite the sometimes wet and windy weather, and coming back from being sick the week leading up to the meet, showed the strong mindset and leadership these senior swimmers possess.

Congratulations to both Kyle and Patrick for representing AquaSol at this very competitive senior level championship meet. We are proud of you!
