Senior AquaSol swimmers compete at Sectional Championsips!

Ave’ Owens, Analeis Vos and Patrick Sammon competed at the Sectional Championships during the week of March 8th, 2021.  The meet was a trials and finals, short course yards meet.  Each swimmer swam extremely well posting new best times, making new qualifying times and competing in the finals!

Competing in her first Sectional Championships Ave’ Owens started the meet with two long course meter time trial swims.  She matched her best time in the 100 meter butterfly and went a best time in her 50 meter freestyle!  Over the course of the meet she went a best time in the 50 freestyle (:24.30), 100 freestyle (:53.38), 200 freestyle (1:58.39) and 100 butterfly (1:00.21).  In the 50 freestyle, Ave’ qualified for the Consolation “C” final and finished in 20th place overall!  Ave’ requalified for the Sectional Championships in the 50 and 100 freestyle!

During the meet Analeis Vos raced in the 50 freestyle (:23.98), the 100 freestyle (51.92) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.13).  In the 50 freestyle, Analeis qualified for the Consolation “B” final and finished overall in 13th place!  For the 100 freestyle she qualified for the Championship “A” final and finished overall in 7th place!  Analeis qualified for the Future Championships in the 50 and 100 freestyle and set new team records for the 15 & 16 women’s age group in the 50 and 100 freestyles!

To start the meet Patrick Sammon time trialed the 50 meter freestyle and swam a time of :23.41.  This was the fastest time posted at the meet and is within two tenths of the Olympic Trial cut.  It is also a new team record for the 17 & 18 men’s age group.  During the short course yards portion of the meet Patrick competed in the 50 freestyle (:20.48), 100 freestyle (:44.01), 200 freestyle (1:37.36), 500 freestyle (4:33.45) and the 100 butterfly (:49.42).  The 50, 100 & 200 freestyle are all new summer Junior National qualifying times.  His swims in the 50, 100, 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly are also new team records for the 17 & 18 men’s age group!  For each of his events he qualified for the Championship “A” final finishing in 4th place for the 50 freestyle, 3rd place for the 100 freestyle, 3rd place for the 200 freestyle and 6th place for the 100 butterfly!
