Ricky Silva-Site Lead
Ricky Rascone-Head Age Group Coach
Coach Ricky has been swimming since he was four years old. He attended Reavis High School in Burbank, IL, where he won conference three years in a row with his swim team. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and minored in Nutrition. He was also a fireman in the suburbs of the Southside of Chicago, where he was able to learn about discipline and mental toughness. Coach Ricky has been a swim instructor since his freshman year of high school. He worked as the head coach for Burbank Swim Association. There, he changed the success of the program around. During his time as head coach, he won back-to-back conference championships and managed to promote the team to a harder division league. He coached Junior Olympics, Regionals- Champs, State-Champs, Zones, Swagger, Far-Western, Speedo Sectionals, and most recently, Futures candidates. In 2019-2020, he was selected to be an Assistant Zones Coach for Team Illinois at the Open Water meet, where he was able to meet and learn open water skills from former Olympian coaches, Michael Lawrence and Laurel Liberty. In 2021, he was selected to be the lead coach for the 10 & under boys group to represent in the Midwestern Mega Zones. During his time with Vacaville Swim Club, he was the assistant swim coach for Wes Sinclair, who was the former partner of legendary coach, John Urbanchek. Coach Ricky helped multiple swimmers improve to a high contender level in such little time, managed to have multiple JO cuts, Swagger individual champion titles, and for the first time in club history, led a swimmer to qualifying for Futures. He is Ellis certified to teach infants, along with children with special needs.

I currently attend UC Santa Barbara and I am majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences. I have been part of the competitive swim team for about eight years and have been to multiple meets such as Far Westerns and CIF-Sections. I also competed for the Rodriguez High School varsity swim team for four years. I've been teaching individual and group swim lessons for about three years now. I am also very familiar with the basics of swimming and teaching kids from different age ranges.
