Friday, December 18th was a perfect day for a showdown between teams Rudolph versus Grinch! The days leading up to the event, one of the first comments from the swimmers to any coach was, "What team am I on?" All the athletes who participated were amped to compete and ready to represent their team. Things were done a little different this year due to covid restrictions but that didn't stop us! We had a split session meaning that the 12 & unders swim first and the 13 & ups swimming...

Hey everybody.... Great job last Saturday competing in our 1st WAVE Inter Squad meet! Some best times, great TEAM spirit and a chance to check our progress with all the obstacles we have had to overcome in the last 6 months. I was proud our efforts and I am excited to see the season unfold with more opportunities with meets were our times will count. Our next Inter Squad meet is planned for October 31st and if all goes well we will sanction the meet and times will count. Swimmer:...

Day One of JO's Holy Vaca! Day one of JO's went as planned. The kids did what was expected of them: executed each swim, new personal bests, and overall fast swims! Emily Mueller: dropped 5 seconds in her 400 IM and placed 11th overall. Her new time in the 400 IM is 5:12. She was first alternate and came back to finals hoping for a second swim. She dropped a few tenths giving her a best time of 31.5 in her 50 fly. Great tempo but was breathing pretty freely....

2016 FUTURES CHAMPIONSHIP (Stanford, Ca.) Saturday – Sunday 200 fly Tim was entered with his yards time and finished strong with a 2:12.44……. a little bit off his best time (took a 2:10 low to make top-30) 50 free Quick turn-around for Tim’s second event for the day…….. Best time :24.31 prelim time :24.95 top-30 :24.56 Not the swim we were hoping for, but a tough double. 200 breast Jalen was out good first 100, but struggled through the back half…… Best time 2:31.48 prelim time 2:34.34 took a 2:27...

Orlando, Florida.......worked on my tan a little bit today with Tim. It was part of our victory celebration!!! This 5-day championship began yesterday with some distance events and some relays. Top-40 make it into Finals (A-B-C-D-E, 5 heats)!! 1600+ athletes competing. Must be 18 &...

Day one 400 IM featured Austin Peterson (4:55.2) and Alan Flower (4:43.48). They both made it into the finals with amazing “prelim” times. TOP 10 MAKE FINALS PRELIM SWIM Austin 4:46 (dropped 9 seconds) and Alan 4:39 (dropped 4 seconds) FINALS SWIM Austin 4:47 and Alan 4:40 *** having big drops in the prelims poses a tough task in the finals to drop more time. Unfortunately, our greatest swims were ONLY in the morning. Next time we will get that finals swim that is better than the morning swim. GREAT...

Waves..... This past weekend, two of our GOLD TEAM members participated in the Sierra Nevada Swimming Leadership Camp held in Roseville. Our athletes spent Friday afternoon and all day Saturday attending classroom sessions and pool time. I asked them to share their experience with the rest of the WAVE FAMILY and this is what they had to say: Jalen Lloyd "Ok, so the recent leadership camp I attended taught me about being a great leader, but it also taught me how to be a better person in and out of...

Our recent travel meet to Cal Berkeley with selected Gold Team athletes proved to be well worth our participation. Some of our athletes were too sick to attend (ok, I’m ready to be done with this sick thing this time of year) and some went despite being sick and others attended this prelim/final meet having avoided the “bug.” You guessed it…….those that went in healthy really set the place on fire. Coming off some very tough and challenging December/early-Jan training, I elected to give the Gold Team a three-day-drop-taper (backing...

2016, Leap year and OLYMPIC year……I look forward to this every four years. Fast swimming, higher expectations, setting the BAR higher than normal, increased work ethic and commitment all share equal importance. There is energy out there just waiting to be harnessed and then unleashed at the perfect moment…..go out and get some. The GOLD TEAM had an incredible couple days of training during our 24-hour swim. This mini training camp provided our athletes an opportunity to swim farther, faster and more intensely in a very demanding and challenging setting....

Happy November! It's the month to give thanks, turkey, Christmas shopping, no-shave November, and cooler temperatures (I'm hoping!). Pool renovations are still under way and hopefully won't go longer than originally estimated. For our competitive swimmers, the Folsom meet is the weekend before Thanksgiving.
