Red & Green Meet Recap

Grace Erkeneff

Friday, December 18th was a perfect day for a showdown between teams Rudolph versus Grinch!

The days leading up to the event, one of the first comments from the swimmers to any coach was, "What team am I on?" All the athletes who participated were amped to compete and ready to represent their team. Things were done a little different this year due to covid restrictions but that didn't stop us! We had a split session meaning that the 12 & unders swim first and the 13 & ups swimming right after.  As each swimmer walked through the gates they had gotten a temperature check and then dropped off their cans to their team's bins. All the canned goods were donated to the Vaca Fish, local food pantry. The team had donated over 1000 canned goods/non-perishable items and a $100 donation!

Rudolph 543 cans

Grinch 552 cans

Once the Coaches passed out the caps, it was game on! The swimmers did a quick warm up and then we got down to business.

For the 12 & unders the order of events went as follows:

Kickboard Shuffle Relay

Butterfly Relay

Cup Relay

Freestyle Relay

Ornament Relay

After all the relays were finished the scores were tallied... And the results were Rudolph at 69 points and Grinch at 111!

For the 13 & ups we added a few events as they were veterans and they know how this meet is ran. Luckily, we had an even 16 swimmers per team so everyone got to swim all the relays. Below is the list of events:

Kickboard Shuffle Relay

Butterfly Relay

Cup Relay

Freestyle Relay

Ornament Relay

Backstroke Relay

IM Relay

Shooter Relay

After a quick hour of intense back and forth between the two teams the results were: Rudolph-192 Grinch-214

Grand totals:

Rudolph 261

Grinch 325

Thank you to all the swimmers and volunteers who made this meet run smoothly. The Coaching Staff appreciates everyone's participation.

Happy Holidays,
