Former Boise YMCA Swim Team member, Sammie Eyolfson, qualified for the NCAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving National Championships. Sammie is currently a Junior at Norte Dame University and was one of only 388 athletes invited to the Division 1 level, 281 of whom were swimmers. The Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team competed at the NCAA Championship last week at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“Swimming’s a tough sport sometimes but it’s also so rewarding.  I grew up and learned my love for swimming at the Y and I have an amazing team and coaching staff at Notre Dame that I’m so excited to represent at NCAA’s," says Sammie, "To anyone who has big dreams with their swimming career, keep working hard, embrace training or event changes, and make sure you don’t let any hardships take away from your love of the sport.”

Sammie was a member of the Boise YMCA Swim Team for 12 years and still holds many team records. Head Boise YMCA Team Coach, Todd Marsh, had this to say about his experience coaching Sammie, “Sami has always had a never give up attitude.  Hard work, tough mental attitude and a fierce racer.  No obstacle or set back was big enough to stand in her way to accomplish her goals.”

We're so proud of you, Sammie!
