Greater Laredo Aquatic Association-GLAA is Laredo's only complete year-round amateur competitive member of United States Aquatic Sports, Inc. (USAS) with membership in USA-Swimming, USA-Diving, USA Masters Swimming, and USA Water Polo. We offer high-quality professional coaching with a focus on technique instruction for all ages. The GLAA mission is to provide every member an opportunity to improve their aquatic skills, in their desired aquatic discipline, and achieving success to his or her highest level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

The Greater Laredo Aquatic Association, Inc. (GLAA), is a Texas charitable nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for educational-amateur sport exempt purposes. It is a member of United States Swimming, United Stated Water Polo and United States Diving. .

 

GLAA’s mission is to serve and continually work to create an environment, which enables and promotes all aquatic members to compete in amateur athletic competition from novice to the international level in the following Olympic sports swimming, diving and water polo.

 

GLAA is independently owned and operated. The coaching staff are individual members of United States Aquatic Sports, Inc.(USAS) through USA Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Masters Swimming.

GLAA is responsible for the conduct and administration of the competitive aquatics program it sustains. GLAA maintains and is a member in good standing through affiliation with the South Texas Local Swim Committee (LSC) of USA-Swimming, who is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), the International Federation for Aquatics, and with United States Aquatic Sports, Inc.(USAS) for USA-Diving and USA Water Polo.

GLAA's Key Objectives:

  1. To foster its members to improve at the safest but fastest rate possible in competitive swimming, diving or water polo as amateur sports with a national or international focus. This shall be done in accordance with the standards and under the rules prescribed by those organizations affiliated with United States Aquatic Sports (USAS) who represents USA-Swimming, Diving and Water Polo at the world Level as members of the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA).
  2. To encourage and promote instruction, fitness, competition and water safety in order to fulfill each members maximum potential novice to international as aquatic competitors in their given discipline of Swimming, diving or Water Polo.
  3. To partner with local media outlets and the local business community to encourage and promote amateur sports with a national to international focus an area- wide interest in competitive aquatics and all phases of water safety throughout the greater Laredo metropolitan area and adjoining communities.
  4. To organize, develop, maintain and conduct national or international competition in sports and to support and develop amateur athletes for national or international competition in competitive swimming, diving and water polo teams.
  5. To promote and develop interscholastic and intercollegiate competitive aquatics within the guidelines established by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA), National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
  6. To develop , promote and encourage the improvement of competitive aquatic facilities in the greater Laredo area and surrounding communities to promote amateur sports venues with a national or international focus for competition.
  7. To protect and promote the mutual interests of the group and institutional members of the Association, while contributing to the general welfare of the greater Laredo area and surrounding communities.
  8. To establish guidelines and encourage all member athletes, coaches, trainers, managers, administrators and officials, to conduct themselves at all times, in a manner that will reflect the highest standards of behavior, ethics, academics, sportsmanship, and character.
  9. To organize, develop, publish and promote amateur sports with a national or international focus in accordance with USAS competitions for the development and improvement of all members of the Association.
