Coaching Staff
Steve Jones LCA Head Coach

I have been coaching swimming for 32 years, at the summer league, high school, adult masters, and club levels. I started LCA in 2000 with just five swimmers. I don't want to bore you with all of the great stuff that my swimmers have achieved. That is important to them, and theirs to share. So, let's skip that and let me share with you how I coach. I coach every swimmer on our team. I coach swimmers at every level, with every ability, and with every desire. I don't coach for the awards to put on my shelf, but rather, for every athlete to be the best version of themselves. The process is long, there are no shortcuts, and I believe that #workworks. See you on the pool deck!

Alex Villafranca Assistant Coach, LCCC

Coach Alex grew up in Mexico City, where he swam competitively for the Acuatica Nelson Vargas swim club. His most treasured swimming memory is having qualified for short course Nationals in the 50 meter Freestyle when he was 15 and winning Silver in the 4x50 meter Freestyle relay.

His love for the sport and what it has to offer has kept him involved in aquatics for the last 10 years. From learn-to-swim, to swim team and masters, Alex has worked with children and adults of all levels and interests. He believes in the importance of proper technique, perseverance, and fun, as key elements in any swimmer's road to success.

Alex has a Bachelor's in Sports Management from Endicott College. Before joining LCA, he coached locally at Waterloo Swimming and before moving to Austin, for Crimson Aquatics and Charles River Aquatics in the Boston area.

He has been a part of the coaching staff with LCA since 2015, first as an assistant coach, and now as the lead coach for the LCA-Lakeway location. He has enjoyed working with every swimmer from the Lakeway location and every swimmer on the LCA team. Cooper has also been a part of the coaching staff with the Lakeway Lakers summer league team since 2017.
