Training Groups

CAA is a year-round program that offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels--from beginners to collegiate athletes. It is the goal of CAA to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities. Individual ages and swimming requirements for each group might vary slightly by location. Group placements are made by the lead coach at each location.

Guppy Group: Our Guppy Group is for swimmers who are new to the sport and most have competed in summer league or a structured swimming program. Most swimmers in this training group are 5 to 8 years old. Practice is offered four days each week in the fall and spring and swimmers are encouraged to come at least two times per week. Requirement: Must be able to swim across the pool freestyle and backstroke. Note: This is not a learn-to-swim group and there are no "in-water" instructors so swimmers must be comfortable swimming on their own.

Bronze Group: Our Bronze Group is for swimmers who are new to the sport and most have competed in summer league or a structured swimming program. Most swimmers in this training group are 7 to 10/11 years old. Swimmers are encouraged to come at least three times per week and to participate in meets. Practices are offered during the fall and spring. Requirement: Must be able to swim across the pool freestyle and backstroke. Note: This is not a learn-to-swim group.

Fitness Group (Cedar Park location only): This is a technique-based, noncompetitive group for new to intermediate middle school and high school swimmers/ages 11-18, who are new to swimming or who are still trying out other sports and want a swim group that is more technique based and swims less distance, and might not want to participate in monthly swim meets. Middle and high school students may use this group for a Category 2 PE credit.

Silver Group: Our Silver Group is for developing competitive swimmers who are looking to improve their strokes and endurance. Swimmers in this group are 9 to 12/13 years old and have previous swim team experience or have graduated from our Bronze Group. Swimmers in this group can swim all four strokes plus the individual medley and also participate in dryland activities, and are encouraged to participate in meets.

Gold Group: Swimmers in the Gold Group are usually at least 11 years old and have previous swim team experience or have graduated from our Silver Group. Swimmers in the Gold Group also participate in dryland activities, and complete in swim meets, with structured training goals such as reaching a certain time standard or meet.

Senior (Lakeway location) and National Development (Cedar Park location) Group: Swimmers in the Senior and National Development Groups are usually in middle and high school and practice six times a week and compete in meets on a monthly frequency. Swimmers are asked to commit to the full training and meet schedule. Swimmers participate in dryland activities that focus on strength and conditioning. Swimmers in this group have structured training goals and compete at local and higher-level swim meets.

We are a very unique team in the area--one of a kind. We are a large team but our different locations are small and let us focus on the development of your child in and out of the water. You are welcome to come and watch a practice so that you can see firsthand what swimming for our team is like.
