2023 FLORIDA SWIMMING ZONE TEAM

The Florida Swimming Zone Team shall be comprised of twelve (12) females and twelve (12) males from each of the following age groups: 11-12 and 13-14 ONLY.

The selected athletes will represent Florida Swimming at the 2023 Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Cary, North Carolina from July 26-29, 2023.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

• Swimmer selection is being done well in advance of the meet in order to guarantee that they can be fully prepared for the 2023 Southern Zone Age Group Championship meet. When a swimmer accepts their selection and is named to the team, Florida Swimming expects that they are committing to preparing for the Zone meet as their primary rest/shave/taper meet of the 2023 long course season.
• All transportation, lodging, meals, meet entry fees, and team gear are arranged for and provided by Florida Swimming.
• All athletes selected for the team must be able to commit to meeting the team at Orlando International Airport on Wednesday, July 26th, and must be picked up from the same location on Sunday, July 30.

• Swimmers will be selected based on applications submitted NO LATER than 5:00pm Friday, May 5th.
• Athletes will be notified of their selection on or before Friday, May 19th.

FEES:

• The swimmer's cost for the trip is $750 (plus a $20 admin registration fee).  The balance of the trip will be paid by Florida Swimming.
• Applications require a $100 deposit by credit card at the time of submission.  If selected to the Zone team, the remaining balance will be charged to this credit card no later than Wednesday, May 31st.
• The deposit will be refunded ONLY if an athlete is not selected to the team, and will be processed no later than July 3rd.
• The deposit will NOT be refunded if an athlete that has been selected and accepted a team spot later withdraws from the team.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Athletes must be a registered 2023 Florida Swimming Premium or Outreach member in good standing for at least 120 days as of the first day of the meet - Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
• Athletes MUST apply for the appropriate age group based on the age they will be on the first day of the meet - Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
• Athletes MUST compete in two long course competitions during the months of April through July 2023, prior to competing at the Zone Championships. This will ensure that proper training and competition leading up to the Zone Championships has occurred.
• Any athlete who has qualified for the 2023 USA Swimming Summer Junior National Championships prior to the meet entry deadline for the 2023 Zone Championships is ineligible for this competition.

The application will be available Thursday, March 9th thru 5:00pm, Friday, May 5th.
No paper or email applications shall be accepted.
NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED - NO EXCEPTIONS
