Athlete Protection Training (APT) - PLEASE READ COMPLETELY. As a reminder, there are only four courses that will satisfy the Athlete Protection Training requirement for membership. Those four courses are the Core Course, Refresher 1, Refresher 2, and Refresher 3. Currently, those are located in Education - Course Catalog - All Courses. Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, is adding swimming and diving to its list of sponsored NCAA Division III programs. The college will have both men's and women's teams and will begin competition during the 2019-20 academic year. The purpose of the Safe Sport Impact Award is to recognize significant achievements by an individual or group who has contributed to the fulfillment of the Safe Sport Committee mission to safeguard all members of USA Swimming from sexual, psychological, emotional and physical abuse. MS Swimming was represented by athletes Cait Chandler (BEST) and Adam Eckstein (VSA) at the inaugural Leadership Summit held in Houston, TX. Brian Ware (Makos) also attended as our LSC coach representative. USA Swimming's first-ever Leadership Summit was hosted by the Executive Committee and Athlete Leadership Task Force in partnership with Gulf Swimming and the University of Houston. On Saturday, March 31, MS Swimming coaches representing 10 of our 11 clubs attended an LSC coaches clinic provided by USA Swimming's high performance director Russell Mark. The 5-hour workshop held in Flowood at Northwest Rankin HS covered all strokes in depth as well as racing starts. Coaches dissected video of elite athletes to learn the latest tips for fast, efficient swimming. Thank you to Coach Robert Gonzalez for planning and coordinating this insightful coach education opportunity for our LSC.

Wade Kojima, MS Swimming's chair of our officials comittee, recently had the honor to work the men's Division 1 NCAA championships held at he Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Kojima was selected to work the prestigous meet as one of USA Swimming's top officials and found himself officiating some of the most exciting lanes of the competition, including Caleb Dressel's 200 free relay lead-off which was the first swim under :18.
